New Nest Hub will not connect to WiFi

My existing Nest Hub was working fine and then it suddenly disconnected from WiFi and will not reconnect. I tried resetting it, choosing the 5GHz over the 2.4Ghz network and even using my phone as a WiFi hotspot but it will not connect.  So as a sledgehammer solution bought a new one. The Home app found it, set it up and either the phone or Nest hug downloaded all the updates and I was able to set it up.

Then it said it needed to restart to apply updates and now it won't connect to either of my WiFi networks which it did before the firmware was updated.  Again tried factory reset etc. to no avail. I have not power cycled my router but I have rebooted a few times which makes no change.  Looking through all the posts I haven't yet come across a definitive solution so reaching out in case somebody has new insight.  My Home app is on Android 12.

Same problem here 😞 Tried all suggestions that I found online but none of them helped...

I just saw that I had typed the subject title wrong. The Nest hub will not connect to WiFi.

Did some further experiments.  As recommended power cycled the router and also reset the Hub,  Still no joy.

Then created a WiFi hotspot on my phone and it still did not connect. So I thought it can't be the router. Then realised that the phone was still using the WiFi from the router and so turned off WiFi and had the hotspot using mobile data. The Nest then connected!

Since I need the Nest working and there isn't anything else I can do, I have bought a new router. It was probably time given my existing Asus barely keeps up with my Gb Internet connection and I now will hav WiFi 6. But it seems like a drastic solution when the Nest hub used to work.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to hear about what you're experiencing with connecting your Google Nest Hub to your Wi-Fi. Could you please confirm the exact prompt that you're getting while you attempt to set it up? We'd like to get other info so we can further isolate this.

  • What is the distance between your speakers and your router?
  • How many Google Nest speakers are connected to your network?
  • What's the make and model of your router?

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Princess

Hi I have an older ASUS RT-AC66U which has been working fine with the Nest Mini Then one day it displayed a message cannot connect to WiFi. I reset it, tried both mhy 2.4 and 5HGHz networks and even power cycled the router a few times. I thought it was faulty and so bought another one. It went through setup fine, downloading the latest firmware successfully but I think that was being done by the phone. But when the Nest Hub restarted it also failed to connect to both WiFi networks.

I have had the Nest hub right alongside the router and my other Google devices like the Google mini and the Lenovo Smart Display work fine.

Since my current router is quite old now (6 years) I have purchased another one which I hope to receive in a few days and hopefully it will fix the problem.

In my case I use the following ASUS wifi mesh routers:

ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 WiFi 6 AX6600

Still no success in connecting my nest hub to the network again...
