No longer able to set up multiple alarms at once on Google Nest Hub

I used to be able to set two alarms at once by asking my google nest hub (gen 2) "Hey Google, set an alarm for 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM" and it would set up those alarms one after the other. However, recently when I try to use this same voice command it just responds with "Sorry, I don't understand." I now have to ask it to set an alarm for 7:30 AM and then ask again separately to set an alarm for 8:00 AM.

Ideally I'd like for it to be able to set up more than two alarms at once, but that was not possible before either. It seems like now it can't even set up two alarms at once.

I've got the same issue with stacking things as you, not only for alarms but changing lighting options, as an example setting all lights to daylight and 100% brightness. Worked perfectly fine until voice commands stopped working with changing colors, then they fixed that and now this issue has started instead. I have the same issue on all the nest devices.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to the Nest Community. I'm sorry to hear your Google Nest Hub is no longer able to set up multiple alarms. No need to worry; I'd be glad to help.

To provide you with the correct information, I have a few questions for you and some troubleshooting steps to send:

  • When did the issue start?
  • How long did the device work as intended before experiencing this symptom?
  • Does the speaker or display answer in a different language?
  • Does the same issue occur when others are speaking to the speaker or display?
  • Did you try to factory reset on your Google Nest Hub?

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Gabriela

Hi Gabriela,

Thanks for your reply. Just to be clear about the issue I'm having, I am able to set up multiple alarms on my Google Nest Hub, however it just requires using separate voice commands whereas previously I could set up two alarms with one voice command.

For example, previously I could say "Hey Google, set an alarm for 7:30AM and 8:00AM" and it would proceed to set up those two alarms. But now I have to say "Hey Google set an alarm for 7:30AM" wait for the command to finish, and then follow up with "Set an alarm for 8:00AM".

To answer your questions:

When did the issue start?

I noticed this issue started happening last week maybe around the start of the month (July 1, 2025). I'm guessing an update was pushed out for Google assistant or something.

How long did the device work as intended before experiencing this symptom?

I have had no issues setting multiple alarms with one voice command since I got the device over a year ago until last week.

Does the speaker or display answer in a different language?

No.

Does the same issue occur when others are speaking to the speaker or display?

Yes.

Did you try to factory reset on your Google Nest Hub?

I would prefer not to have to factory reset my device as it would be quite bothersome to set up my settings again.

Thanks again for your assistance on this issue.

Hi @lyon,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions about your Google Nest Hub. I'm glad to keep helping you.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Tap Devices.
  4. Select your speaker or display, then tap the Settings icon.
  5. At the top right, tap More and then Reboot.
  6. Unplug your Google Nest Hub from its power source for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

After trying these steps, please test setting your desired timer or alarm again to see if the issue is resolved.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Gabriela

This also started happening to me a few weeks ago with my Google home speaker.
Stringing together multiple actions in a single voice command no longer works.
I used to be able to say "Set an alarm for 7:50 and set an alarm for 7:57 am" and have it set both. That no longer works no matter how I say it. I have to set one, wait, do another "Hey google" and set the other.
It is very frustrating since I've been using the phrasing for years and years every day.
