Apologies in advance if this topic has been addressed but any threads I've found are either locked or no answer has been provided.
I recently purchased a home hub and was excited to pair it with my new google doorbell, for both conveniences of seeing who is at the door as well as security for late at night.
Please correct me if I am mistaken, but it seems that "walk by" or "person detected" push notifications are only available/sent to my phone if someone is detected at the front door.
Personally, it would be more advantageous for the feed to load automatically on the home hub if someone is spotted on my front steps at night (or at least a setting is available to do so). It seems that notifications and live feed only appear on the home hub if someone rings the doorbell. I don't think anyone who is lurking around my front porch at night is going to ring the doorbell prior to kicking the front door in. This completely negates the purpose of it being any sort of home security device, something googles competitors seems to have incorporated into their system. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to return these products.

Google Nest's doorbells and cameras do NOT send people or motion alerts to our Nest Hubs, though I've seen numerous posts from other customers asking for that. Only "Visitor announcements" resulting from a doorbell button press from Google Nest's doorbells get sent to Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers.

If you are in the return window, I would send it back. I have the same issue. I can't even see the doorbell feed from my phone! Send this junk back and get an Echo 5 or 8. they are much more reliable and less expensive.

Hey Dan, do you know if google is working on adding this feature? At this point in time the hub just seems to be a paperweight. If I wanted to record my dog walker doing tick tok dances or asking the weather, than google seems to be the product. Security, ring seems to be the way to go.

Agreed. It’s going back. Vote with your dollar, I’d rather google spend more money on functionality rather than fancy packaging.
