I have several Google and Nest displays and speakers throughout my home. I have had them for several years. They all have a great connection to the internet and Wi-Fi network. They have all been functioning as I have programmed them.
In the past two weeks, one of them has been suddenly executing a specific routine differently than the rest, playing completely different media at the end of the automation than the other displays in my home.
The automation works fine on the display in one room, but not in the other.
The automations are triggered with the same media request. "Listen to my XXXXX playlist from YouTube music."
The display with firmware version: 27.20250422.103.3600 does not play the correct playlist.
The display with firmware version: 27.20250422.103.3600500 executes the automation as intended.
The playlist is labeled something unique in my YouTube music; the automation parameters have not changed. The playlist name has not changed. My Wi-Fi network has not changed. Nothing in my Google Home App has changed. The display was functioning as desired up until a couple of weeks ago. This is the display not functioning as intended
This display is functioning just fine

I suggest sending a feedback report from the Google Home app. Share feedback about Google Nest - Google Nest Help . Keep checking for firmware updates and clearing cache and rebooting devices may also be worth a try.
Seems to be something with that different firmware and I will also let the Google Community Managers know and escalate your post.

Hi @tradewind6050,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you're having issues with one of your Nest Hub devices. It's not running an automation while your other devices are. I appreciate you sharing the software version and clarifying that your environment hasn't changed. I'm here to help.
Also, thanks to @JillG for jumping in! That was really helpful.
After reviewing the information, I noticed that the firmware version of the Nest Hub that isn't working is different from the others. Let's work on that! I have some steps you can try to see if we can get your device working again. Please follow these steps and let me know how it goes.
Once you've completed all these steps, please let me know the results and check the firmware version. Depending on what happens, I'll have some other steps we can try. Also, please let us know if the firmware version changed or if it's still the same.
Best regards,
Debora

Thank you.
I have also sent in a feedback report from the device that is not functioning as desired.
I will reluctantly remove the device and start over with it. We do recognize that the device in question has a newer firmware and cast version than the functioning display, correct?
My concern is that I'm only going to run into the same problem if the firmware updates to the more recent version again.

Hello @tradewind6050,
Thank you for letting me know that you've already sent your feedback; we truly appreciate it.
Regarding your questions, the purpose of a factory reset is to update your device to firmware version 27.20250422.103.3600500. This is necessary for the device to work properly, as a large difference between firmware versions can lead to bugs in its features.
Please let me know what happens when you try this. I'll be waiting for your reply.
Best regards,
Debora
