Podcast issues

elweezo

Hi, I have been using my Google nest/minis to listen to podcasts for years now. All of a sudden they no longer will play the newest podcasts and continue to start at a podcast that is over a month old. The only way I can get it to play the most recent is to start the month old one and then tell it to skip to next podcast but since there has been 20 newer ones since, this takes a lot of time and now I just use my Amazon echoes since they actually work properly

This is definitely not resolved. I don’t understand why restoring basic functionality is such an impossible task.

Hey folks,

Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just to add does the same thing happen when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone? Also, please check the current firmware version of your devices.

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings > Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX."

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Have not noticed it on Assistant app

The problem with the Nest/Homes still happens  Firmware is 279716

cast firmware 1.54.279716

My biggest concern is tht they do not remember what podcast I was listening to and where in the podcast I paused

Having it stop in id sentence is a lil annoying but not a huge issue because I can ask again and it works the second time

It would be helpful if you told us what version of firmware we should have. No, it's not fixed. I suppose this is just not possible to repair functionality that used to work. The breaking of the functionality seemed to coincide with the "update" after losing the suit to Sonos.

Hey Cflo,

To confirm, the only way that you can play the latest episode is when you say, "Hey Google, listen to the latest episode of <title of the podcast>." Is that correct?

Hey Laupsavea,

Looks like your issue is different from the OP's issue. Our team is aware of the issue wherein the podcast won't resume from where the user's podcast left off on the Google Home/Nest devices. The team is looking into that issue. It is best if you could create a new thread so we can be more focused on the issue that you have.

OP's post is about not being able to play the latest episode. An alternative way of playing the newest episode is by saying, “Listen to the latest episode of  <podcast title>."

Cheers,

Muddi

I also have the same issue....I have posted on here before but no solution is ever forthcoming and, after a while, your colleagues conveniently decide that it is best to close the thread "to keep things fresh". Maybe a better way would be to actually address the problem?

I listen to Google Podcasts on my Google Home speakers: "Hey Google, play The Daily" (or some other podcast).

Of course, sometimes I have to stop in the middle of an episode: "Hey Google, stop"

Then I come back sometime later to listen to the rest of the podcast: "Hey Google, play The Daily".

Until recently, Google Assistant would always pick up where I left off: "Sure, I'll pick up where you left off in The Daily".

However, in the last few days, it is no longer remembering where I actually left off, so it always resumes in an old episode. What can I do to make Google Assistant remember where I actually left off?
