Problem with Apple Devices Connecting to Google/Nest Speakers with Bluetooth

mspam

I have both Google and Google Nest speakers throughout our home.  They worked great until last week or so.  Now the Google devices do not show up in the Apple bluetooth settings, so I am not able to play my music from my iPhone or iPad on any of the speakers with bluetooth.  In addition, I deleted one speaker as a test to see if reinstalling would solve the problem.  The Google Home app will not let me add the speaker...keeps going in a loop asking me to identify the device I want to add.  I have spent hours trying to troubleshoot, both with Apple and on my own.  Conclusion is that it is a Google software issue.  Deleted the home app and reinstalled; no change.  HELP!!!

Hi mspam,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, so let’s get this resolved. You can check the steps below on how to relink your Apple devices through Bluetooth.

From the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold the tile of the device you want to pair.
  3. Tap Settings and then Audio and then Paired Bluetooth devices and then Enable Pairing Mode.

From your mobile device's Bluetooth settings

  1. On your mobile device's Home screen, tap Settings and then Bluetooth.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth On.
  3. Tap the name of the speaker or display you'd like to pair.

Check this link for more details.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni, thank you for your response; however, I have tried all of this and iPhone 14 pro is not even recognizing any of my Google bluetooth speakers.  It will not even allow me to add my Google mini speaker, although I have other Nest speakers that are on the home app, but will not connect to bluetooth on my iPhone.

Forgot to mention; iPhone will connect to OTHER BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS that are not Google/Nest.  I believe this is a Google issue that arose with the latest IOS update.

Hi there,

Thanks for the details you provided. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Could you identify which Nest speakers are we working with?  Let’s go ahead and do a full reset of your Nest speakers to put them back to their default setting and set them up as a new device. Here is a helpful link. Once done setting up try to link it via Bluetooth again by following the steps provided in the earlier post.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Juni

Hello mspam,

How's it going with your Google Nest speaker? Did resetting your speaker help? Let us know by updating this thread and the Community will be happy to lend a hand.

Thank you Alex for following back up.  Unfortunately, I tried resetting the speaker and it still is not showing up on the Bluetooth selections for my IPhone 14Pro.  I have another (non-Nest/Google) speaker and it shows up as a selection with no connection problems.  This leads me to believe that the problem is not Apple, but Google/Nest.  Resetting did allow me to find the speaker on the Google home app, however.  So frustrated…..I miss my music!  I am only able to get the Google/Nest speakers to pull music from Pandora.
