Problem with setting media alarms and reoccurring alarms

ThatTeacup

I'm having problems setting music alarms and reoccurring alarms on my Home Mini.

It keeps saying that for a music alarm it will play 'My Supermix' unless I restart it. Only then will it ask me what song I want to play when I ask to set a music alarm.

Any time I've tried to set a reoccurring music alarm it also says it will play 'My Supermix'.

I don't want it to play that, I have a specific song in mind, but it seems to be dead set on playing my Supermix or the default alarm.

I only have the Home Mini and am using the Home app on Android, but the options for setting alarms are kind of limited. It kind of sucks I have to use Google assistant and can't just use the alarm app already on my Google pixel 3A.

Hi folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

You can set your favorite music as an alarm. Select a song, artist, genre or playlist from your default music service in the Google Home app. If you have a premium account with your default music service, you can also use the premium options the service offers.

Note:

  • This feature is only available in the US.
  • This feature is available in the following languages:
    • Google Nest and Home speakers: English, French (France and Canada), German, Japanese and Spanish
    • Google Nest displays: English (United States)

You may try using the following commands:

OK Google or Hey Google...

  • "Set <radio station> radio alarm for 6 AM tomorrow."
  • "Set <song or artist> music alarm for 7 AM Monday."
  • "Set <song or artist> music alarm for 7 AM every day."
  • “Snooze for 10 minutes.”
  • "Snooze."

By the way, big thanks to @MikeClark for helping out.

Best,

Princess

Google Play Music was folded into YouTube Music a while back, and I have a YouTube Premium subscription so I get YouTube Music. I still doesn't fully understand why it keeps defaulting to 'My Supermix', though. It seems to be a playlist on YouTube Music, but asking it to do any other playlist (I can get it to ask me what song I want only once after I restart toe Home Mini).

I've made sure all my apps are up to date, including the Google Home app. I suppose the only thing to do now is try having a different default music app.

I did receive this, but I have yet to test it as I have been busy with work.

I will try your suggestion as the wording is a little bit different, and that might be the key, but it will have to wait until I get home in a few hours.

Hi ThatTeacup,

Thanks for responding. Have you had the chance to try the steps over the weekend? Let us know so we can see if the steps helped.

Best,

Yes! It did help. It seems just changing up the order of the key terms and using a different music program than YouTube Music used got it to work!

Thank you!
