Question regarding all 3rd party smart devices

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello all,

While awaiting the infamous popping sounds coming off my Nest Mini 2nd gen (among a slew of other issues) I want to use my Lenovo cd-4n341y Smart Clock Essentials (no touch screen) and I remember that Google cut 3rd party support for touch screen devices and such & wanted to clarify if this is part of the cut and if it would be safe to use. Thanks in advance.

Hi CraigM3,

We understand that your concern is about your Lenovo smart clock device. Please note that we have very limited technical support for third-party speakers with a built-in Google Assistant, like Lenovo. It is best to report this to Lenovo support for more information. The integration of Google Assistant into third-party devices like your Lenovo smart clock is different from that of Google Home or Nest speakers.

However, to answer your question, we don’t have any news in regards to Google cutting out third-party devices. There may be limited technical support, but as long as it’s compatible and has a built-in Google Assistant, it can be linked to the Google Home app.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Thank you for the reply. I was able to get some confirmation from Lenovo that the cuts were only for some touch screen devices and not the one I have. Thanks again.
