Radio Stations Not Woking and Speaker "Pops"

itsyourlastrolo

On my Google Home Speaker I ask to play Smooth Chill and it says "Playing Smooth Chill on Planet Radio" but it should be via Global Player.  It instead plays Magic Chilled on Planet Radio.  I ask for anything on Global Player and it says "Playlists aren't available on Global Player".

Secondly, I've asked for Capital Chill on TuneIn and it says "Playing Smooth Chill on TuneIn", and it plays Smooth Chill.

Additionally, I keep getting a "popping" sound when audio plays on the speaker.  I have followed the troubleshooting steps but it still happens.

There never used to be any issues until about a month ago.

I've had this same issue. Love smooth chill but can't seem to get it by voice now. Only way I can get it is by casting smooth chill from the app. Annoying but at least we can still listen to smooth chill

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out.

Aside from Smooth Chill Music, do you also experience the same to other radio stations from TuneIn? Also, could you please tell us what are the troubleshooting steps you've done?

Let's try first to ask your Google Nest speaker for other radio stations to check if this is only happening specifically on that radio station. Once done, reboot your speaker and router simply by unplugging it from the power source for at least a few minutes. After try the same commands to see if it works.

Let us know how it goes. We'd love to know more of what's happening so we can also try it on our end.

Princess

Hi

I tried all of these.  Still the same issues in terms of getting radio stations.  This is what happens:

  • Ask for Smooth Chill, says "Playing Smooth Chill from Planet Radio" and it plays Magic Chilled.
  • Ask for Smooth Chill on Global Player, says "Playing Smooth Chill from Global Player" and plays Capital Chill.
  • Ask for Capital Chill on Global Player, says "Playlists aren't available on Global Player".

I'm not aware of issues with other stations on there, they seem to work okay when asked.  I can get Smooth Chill from TuneIn if I ask from there.

Secondly, the Google Nest still "pops" after doing all the reset steps as advised in other queries on here.

Yep,  Smooth Chill no longer available On Google Home

You can get it if you ask for it via TuneIn

Hi folks,

Baxuk, thanks for reaching out. Have you had the chance to try the steps provided by Princess? Please try the steps outlined above and let us know if the issue persists. You can also try the recommendation itsyourlastrolo provided.

itsyourlastrolo, got it. I’m glad that you are able to play Smooth Chill from Planet Radio. For your speaker popping issue, what Nest speaker or display do you own? When did it begin? Were there any recent changes made? Does the popping happen when playing music only? What steps have you taken so far to address this?

Regards,

Juni

Hi Juni

I am not able to play Smooth Chill from Planet Radio, because it is not available on there.  Smooth Chill is a station owned by Global Media & Entertainment.

Planet Radio offers stations owned by Bauer Media Audio UK.

The issues are still persisting where stations are getting mixed up for whatever reason as I outlined above and this needs fixing please. Just using an alternative source is not a solution such as TuneIn.  This is because TuneIn uses adverts during listening, whereas Global Player just provides the stream.

As for the popping, yes it is only when audio is playing.  It can be any type of music.  I own a Google Nest Audio, I'd say this probably started about 6 weeks ago, but there were no significant changes in that time.  I have outlined in my initial post what steps I have taken, such as Factory Reset, resetting the internet router etc.

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the info provided. Aside from Smooth Chill station, do you also encounter this on some stations from TuneIn or other radio providers?

Princess

Hi

A response to this question was provided in my answer to you on Tuesday.  Apart from those, no other stations seem to be affected, though other people seem to be affected by a similar issue.

Also, still have issues with the popping sound.  Before I'm asked again, yes I have done all the troubleshooting steps.

Thanks.

Hi itsyourlastrolo,

Thanks for responding. Is there a way that you could send a short video clip so we can check further what's causing this to happen.

Best,

Princess

Which do you want a video of?  The stations not playing as they should or the speaker popping?

Hello itsyourlastrolo,

We haven’t seen your form submission come through — were you able to access it alright? Let us know if you’re running into trouble or still need our help.

Kind regards,
Alex

I am unsure as to what further information is needed, I've laid out in the thread above the issues, although the issue with getting certain radio stations to play seems to have been resolved.

The speaker still "pops" when playing though.  I have tried all the troubleshooting as advised in other threads.

Hello itsyourlastrolo,

Thanks for responding.

Could you confirm if the issue still happens on one specific radio station? If yes, kindly send us a short video clip of what's happening every time you try to access that radio station.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess

It happens with all audio, not just radio stations.  This was stated in one of my earlier responses.

Hey there,

Sorry about this. Could you please fill out our Contact Us Form with all the needed information then let me know once done.
