Radio alarms don't work like they did before

Thksnow

I have a Nest Hub which I have set up as a bedroom alarm clock with alarms which play one of my local FM radio stations. It has worked fine for months playing the local FM radio station via TuneIn. A few days ago the alarms started playing one of the standard alarm sounds as opposed to the radio station. I factory reset the hub and put in new alarms for the radio station and now it plays the radio station at the alarm time (see picture) but when you hit snooze or cancel it just keeps playing the radio station.  You can verbally tell it to stop playing and it will, but if you pressed snooze originally it will come back on 10 mins later. Has anyone else seen this problem and does anyone know how to solve it?

Hi Hammmer,

Hope you're feeling better now. I appreciate all the details you've shared. Our team is already aware of this and currently working on a stable fix to this issue.

Kindly provide a feedback using your speaker by saying "Ok Google, send feedback" and state "Unable to snooze/stop media alarm on the display". I'll make sure to keep this thread open and update it as soon as we have some news to share.

Best,

Princess

BTW - I have 'sent feedback' once again as requested.

Is there any updates at all?

It's all very quiet - hopefully something is going on.

Out of interest, I can set a routine that plays the radio station I want to play as an alarm but, routines lack some alarm functionality such as snooze so a routine cannot be considered a replacement for the alarm.

I'm wondering the same thing.  I wouldn't think putting out a fix for this issue would be that hard or take this long.

....given that it worked perfectly before.............

I have also had this issue and reported this to the google support team. So frustrating when it worked perfectly fine for so long and now has stopped altogether

Definitely.  I don't know what is taking them so long in coming up with a fix.  It's been almost a month since we've heard anything.

and it's only gotten worse not any better

and, this morning, the routine I have set to play a classic rock radio station, which used to work, started playing "annoying synth mix" on spotify.

What's going on Google - it starting to remind me of the early versions of Android where nothing worked properly and it was always having issues but never the same thing.

I got an email from Alfie today saying they were still working on it and be patient.  I'm as frustrated as you with how long it's taking.

So - 3 more weeks (and counting) and we have no fix and no comms.

Come on google, let's have an update.  What's happening ?

Thksnow

So here we are 4 MORE weeks later, and still no response or resolution.  This issue has been unresolved for 3 months!!  What's happening Google?  No issue this small should take this long to fix, unless you are just ignoring it, or just dont care about your customers.  I'm frankly ready to move to another system.

  • What's happening with finding a fix for this Google??? It's been 2 months since the last comment and no response or fix.  I tried it again today and it still doesn't work.  It's extremely frustrating that Google can't find a fix for what appears to be a simple problem.   Any status update???

There's a theory that Apple, Cisco etc spend a lot of $$$ testing and the Google testing is done by thousands of unhappy users.

Hammmer

Very disappointing.

I have 4 Google hubs - I'd like a refund for all of the please.

Hey Google,

Why the 'Radio Silence' - can we please have an update on this issue.

Thksnow

They obviously don't care about this issue, sadly.  Also, I think someone at Google marked this issue as "Answered" above, so maybe they read that as "Solved"???  Clearly it's not fixed.  I'm going to statrt a new thread, and maybe someone will respond.  Unbelievable.

I just started a new post entitled "RADIO ALARMS NO LONGER WORK".   Maybe you can respond to that one.

I really do  not know what Google are up to.

Having removed my 'Home" from the app, factory reset all 4 hubs and set everything back up, not only do I still not get any Radio Alarms, I now get no alarm sounds at all.

This issue started off being a problem 'snoozing' the radio alarm and has  only got worse and worse.

Hi everyone,

I understand the ongoing frustration many of you are experiencing around the overall radio alarm issues with your devices for some time now. Rest assured the team is aware of this issue and looking into this with our relevant partners. I know this may not be the answer you're looking for at the moment, but once we have new information to share, I'll update this thread. We appreciate your patience.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thanks Muddi - some comms is much better than No Comms at all.

Hey folks,

I'm just checking in to see if anyone still experienced the same issue when setting up a radio alarm? If so, please try to use "create" instead of "set" when asking the Google Home speakers/displays to create a media alarm. For example, "Hey Google, create a medial alarm".

Let us know if that works.

Cheers,

Muddi

My alarm was staring to occasionally work although it seemed to do something different for each day of the week ie some days the radio came on and other days the normal alarm activated and I had to tell it to stop and then play the radio station and some days it tried twice to do an alarm? Then my husband tried to set a different alarm and got confused and cancelled all alarms to start again. I tried what you suggested above ie usung the different commands but it didn't recopgnise those either and the problem I now seem to have is that my nest mini tries to set a radio alarm but it says it can't understand that I want BBC radio 4. Eventually it gives up and says it will set a normal alarm and then when it goes off, we can stop the alarm and ask it to play radio 4 or bbc world service and it will play it normally? Is this because we are in the UK and the alarms now don't work with the BBC? BBC has changed its app over the last few months, but its a bit sad if google can't sort this for the UK.

This has not resolved the issue

This seems to have been going on for several years. I doubt they’ll ever address it.  I use my Apple Watch instead. 🤷🏻
