RadioApp not loading on Google Nest Hub Max

SteveCairns
Community Member

RadioApp will not load on my Nest Hub Max. Other nest devices in the same household are fine.
Has been working fine, but stopped within the last week or so. Responds to my voice command "Play 3AW' but then the loading process freezes. Other radio services seem fine (iHeartradio) works on the Hub max, but RadioApp does not.

Contacted Google support via email ... the suggested the usual reboot and update solutions ... no change. Opened a chat to Google support, nothing additional to help, but they did suggest to open a Feedback on the issue through the Google home app. When enough people report the same issue, it gets the attention of the next level support people, who should be able to resolve the issue.

** UPDATE **
This is a Google issue ... probably a bug in a recent firmware upgrade that you have no control over.
If you are on firmware level 26.20250116.103.2201 you will probably have the problem.
It is a worldwide issue for Nest Hub devices. Google are aware and some users in the UK have recently reported their problem has been fixed. Hopefully just a matter of time before they roll the fix out to us in Australia ... keep checking.

** UPDATE 2 **
Working here in Melbourne on Friday 2nd May at 9:45am. Was not working at 6:45am.
Seems ok for 3AW , 2GB , 6PR , ABC , GoldFM , Smooth FM , Nova , KIIS ...
...  but not for MMM , MMM Classic Rock , FOX FM , 3MP .  That is all that I quickly tried.
Interesting is that my firmware level has not changed for my Nest Hub Max. This suggests that there might have been as issue in RadioApp that they are progressively fixing up.

We will probably never know the root cause of the problem, but let's hope they get ALL the stations back ASAP.

We need to bombard 3aw and 2gb as they dont seem to care we cant listen in our usual way- if at all

As this has been going on for several weeks now, its obvious they are involved in the blame game at the moment rather than trying to fix the actual problem. I've looged feedback with diagnostics, but it's doubtful that they'll do anything with it.

I am in Australia I have done  exactly the same things as you still not working on the hub but working on all other speakers on my network

I’m in Victoria Australia. Came home and exactly what’s been described has occurred. Can’t play anything using RadioApp on the nest yet the mini plays fine. Have deleted the app and set it up again, factory reset the nest, all to no avail. Clearly it’s a Google/RadioApp issue?

I have the same problem but only some stations. Always Radio Ap on display devices,  but seems to be spreading to my speakers as well.

Iheartradio is no longer working on my Nest hub max in Australia. Very frustrating

I just received this email reply from RadioApp support ...

Thank you for enquiry.

Regarding issues with Google Speakers and RadioApp, we are aware that there is currently an issue with the latest firmware on Google Nest devices. It has caused issues with majority of stations not playing on the device.

We are looking into this issue and have also asked Google to investigate.

Cheers,

RadioApp

Well at least they know there is an issue and it is being looked into for a solution.

I have the exact same issue and only stopped working about a week ago, prior to that it was fine.

Gday. I am in Adelaide.  My radio app does exactly the same on next but my mini works fine?

We're having the same issue today, 28.4. Won't load on any of our google devices. Quite frustrating. Hopefully it's fixed soon.

It's clearly an issue with some update that google has made, this is not a single user issue.

We've all got the same issue.

Hi all, yep exactly the same here... my first gen display stopped working a couple of weeks ago... swapped to my second gen which continued to work for a week or so and then also stopped working.
I've tried factory reset, unlink/re-link, nothing resolves it. Mini's are working fine.

I left an incident report on Rayo letting them know that they are losing all of their listeners with these devices... so hopefully this will get them kicking Google to actually do something.

I have the same problem with my hub max but it works on the minis. Also tried the power off and back on but still the same.

I've had it on global player. It stopped working but tune in is working fine. Just on a hard reboot but still not working, I guess I'll raise a feedback ticket as well.

I have had this problem for the last few days. Did all the troubleshooting but still no radio. My Google mini is fine. Hopefully Google will fix the problem quickly

I’m in the US and since April 25 (Fri) haven’t been able to stream 2 local NPR stations on my Google Hub. Like everyone else on this thread, they play fine on the minis but when they try to connect on the display, the screen flickers and tries to connect then goes back to the clock. Same thing happens when I try to play through Tune-in. Other local radio stations play just fine, as do other NPR stations in other cities. I’ve sent feedback via the hub, but wanted to say that it seems to be a problem here in the US too.

I am having the same problem. It has been like it for weeks (only on my Home Nest Hub.....mini's are fine). I have tried everything to resolve the problem including resets but nothing. I have resorted to switching to Amazon Alexa as this seems to work much better than the Google system!!

Hi Steve,

yes same happened to mine. All other google play radio but stopped working on nest hub a few days ago. Thank you for pointing us in the right direction.

Same here with Smooth UK on Global Player. Firstly one unit stopped and the day after reporting that my othec3 units were fine they too went down within 24 hours. Done ALL that has been suggested to no avail. It MUST be a genersl fault and google MUST deal with it as a matter of great urgency seeing all the posts, interest & pleas for help. Come on google step up please

I’m having the same problem trying to listen to MMM, Buddah Hits and 4BH in Brisbane. I say to google play MMM Brisbane, she says “streaming MMM from RadioApp”, goes to a screen where it says “playing radio app”, then jumps to a screen with RadioApp logo and nothing! Happening on both google devises, google nest and google nest max… I have another smart speaker from a different brand in bedroom and that works fine when I ask google to play one of my favourite stations, naturally seems to be a google devise problem… very annoying!

So (and also not so) glad it isn't just me! I factory reset it twice! This needs sorting by Google, urgently!
