I'm having the same or at least related issue recently.
I usually use a command like "Hey Google, play Radio X via TuneIn on Group Y". Worked like a charm for three years when I set it up via a Google Home Script.
Since about 2-3 weeks that doesn't work anymore and only one speaker, usually the smartspeaker I use for the command, is playing what I want, but not the group.
I have a routine I use in the morning that plays a specific radio station in the bathroom and in the kitchen (my "morning group"). Would be great if someone could fix that issue.

Hello Pat_,
Thank you so much for reaching out to this forum. I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing trouble with your speaker group. I’ll be more than pleased to help.
I'd like to ask you a few questions to gather more information about the issue and find the best way to fix it.
When did the issue first occur?
Can you check if the Google Home app is up to date?
What model of Google Speakers do you have? To identify the models, consult this article: Google Nest and Home device specifications.
What are the firmware versions of your Google devices? To find this information, refer to this article: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes.
Do you experience this situation with a certain radio station?
Have you tried to remove the speaker group and create a new one?
Did you include non-Google speakers in the group?
What Wi-Fi frequency band are the devices connected to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?
I’ll be waiting for your response.
Regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
in my home I have installed a combination of 6 Chromecast Audio devices (firmware 1.56.467166) and 7 Xiaomi smart speakers (cast firmware 1.52.272222).
Google Home is 3.38.53.1 from 30th July, which might just be about the time I first registered that things aren't running as they used to.
The speakers (and speaker groups) are all visible in the Home app.
As I said, the smart speakers are from Xiaomi.
I set the speakers up in my 5 GHz Main WiFi but later switched some of them to my 2.4 GHz IoT WiFi for stability reasons. The different WiFis aren't separated and devices can communicate with each other. The WiFi channel doesn't make a difference in my case. The error occurs in all kinds of combinations.
However, just to be safe, I set up a new group, with 2.4 GHz devices only, and it also doesn't work via voice control.
What works:
Use apps such as TuneIn or Spotify to cast audio to a single speaker or to a speaker group.
Use voice control to stream a station to a single device. It will start on the smart speaker I talked to and I can add/remove other speakers later via the Google Home app.
What doesn't work:
Use voice control to cast audio to a speaker group.
I used to receive a confirmation such as "Playing Radio X on TuneIn on Group Y now." Now it just says "Playing Radio X on TuneIn."
I was experimenting with it right now (and the new group I set up as you suggested) and it appears as if the "group" command confuses the system and now there's no music at all.

Hi Daniel, is there a minor chance you could see my reply and answer?
