Recipes- "Sorry I don't understand"

Many recipe related tasks do not work and produce the response "Sorry I don't understand ", this includes the Add to Cookbook command when pressed on the screen. Disappointed.

I am getting the (sorry I don't understand) when asking to spell words. I am starting to think this is a bigger problem overall. I hope it gets fixed soon. Sorry I could not help.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about this experience. Could you tell us when did you notice these changes? Also, have you already tried a simple reboot to your Google Nest speakers simply by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes? Let's go ahead and try that first and as soon as it is plugged back, try the commands listed here: https://goo.gle/3O7uYWv

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

No, I got no help from that link. It was just instructions on how to use the software when it works. I'm talking about a bug.  I try plugging and unplugging but I do that often enough and whenever I try to use Recipes on my Nest Home Max there is a problem saving to cookbook or trying to expand the ingredients list. (I think most 'chips' don't work in recipes app)

The problem is when I touch the tiles/chips on screen to list the rest of the ingredients or Save the recipe to the cookbook.  It's hit and miss.  Ussually does not work but then a few minutes later after navigating away and then back it MAY work. No pattern that I can discern.

Hi Farhawk3,

Sorry for the late response and thanks for the additional details you've shared. Could you please provide the cast firmware version of your Google Nest Hub?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Princess

Here is the firmware info -

Technical information

System firmware version: 10.20221 207.2.109

Cast firmware: 1.68.353 51 1

Language: en-US

I'm not sure if the firmware was recently updated but I just tried saving recipes as well as expanding the ingredient list as well as the steps list (from the touch screen where it was not working) and now it seems to work fine.

Hoping it was a firmware update that did the trick. Thanks for help in any case!

See below response. Seems to work today. Hopefully it was a firmware update that turned the tide.
