Reconnecting after Wifi Change

VICH
Community Member

I have just had my wifi changed over so it has a new address and password.

I can not get my Google Home Hub or Nests to reconnect with the new WiFi

I have followed the online advice to set up as 'new' devices but they just won't connect. I keep getting the same message to factory reset the home hub. Which I have done. SO frustrating.

Has anyone else got any tips on how I can resolve this?

Thank you

@VICH

Did you try removing your Google Nest devices from the Google Home app before doing the factory reset?

Are you absolutely sure the factory reset occurred?

Have you checked to make sure your Wi-Fi security settings on your router/mesh system isn't set to WPA-2 Enterprise? I'm not sure if all the smart speakers don't support this but I know the mini doesn't

This happened to me. If you set your new router to the exact same credentials (wifi name / password) it will pick the devices back up. Make it the exact same as your old router and it should avoid factory resets for your devices

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out.

Appreciate your helpful suggestions, @MplsCustomer, Biggsyboi, and @Jmach.

@VICH, I want to follow up if you've already tried everyone's suggestions. Your Google Home and Nest devices usually connect automatically to the internet connection with the same network name and password, like what Jmach said. If your devices are still unable to connect, then performing a factory reset should clear their previous configuration, allowing you to get them connected to your new network.

If you are still having issues, let me know.

Cheers,
Lovely
