Repeatable, irritating bug regarding smart lights & alarms

Perhaps the most annoying bug I've encountered, repeatable for the past 6+ months when speaking to my Google Home devices:
  • Me: Hey Google, turn on nightlight (name of my nightlight smart bulb).
    • <light turns on> Later that evening...
  • Me: Hey Google, set an alarm for 6:30am tomorrow morning.
  • Home: 6:30am alarm for Monday morning set.
  • Me: Hey Google, turn off nightlight.
  • Home: 6:30 am alarm for Monday morning... canceled.
  • Me: @#$%#$#.... <@#$#$>....
  • Me: Hey Google, turn off nightlight.
  • Home: Nightlight turned off.
  • Me: Hey Google, set an alarm for 6:30am tomorrow morning.
  • Home: 6:30am alarm for Monday morning set.
  • <Repeat every few weeks out of habit of speaking naturally>
It's rather remarkable. The two commands sound nothing alike yet Google will cancel the alarm I just set right after I've just asked it to turn off a smart light bulb - somehow thinking my turning off the bulb means cancel the alarm.  I can't explain even why this happens since my understanding is that Google is converting my voice into text to understand the actual text - but it appears perhaps some other logic is at play rather than 'comprehension' of the spoken word. Enough hypothesizing. It's a mystery to me and consistent repeat performance.
