Routine cancel alarm deletes my weekly alarm

ITSLULULEMON
Community Member

I have a morning routine and the first step is to cancel my alarm. I have had this routine forever. Lately it has been deleting my weekly alarm instead of stopping the alarm. Has the command to turn off an alarm changed? If so how do I stop my alarm that is going off in my routine without deleting the alarm for the week? I don’t want to set my alarm everyday that defeats the Purpose of having a weekly alarm. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi ITSLULULEMON,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― when did this issue start? What Google Home/Nest speakers do you have there? If you haven't tried rebooting your devices, please do. Rebooting your phone and router/modem also helps since all these devices and functions rely heavily on WiFi.

For more troubleshooting steps check out this guide: Create and manage Routines in the Google Home app and Set and manage alarms and media alarms.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Hi ITSLULULEMON,

Thanks for coming back to us. Could you tell us the actions included in your routine. Also, is this a customized scheduled routine or the default one?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi,

Here are the actions on my morning routine:

  • stop alarm (custom)
  • bedroom light turn on
  • stop playing music on display (custom)
  • tell me about the weather
  • tell me about upcoming birthdays
  • tell me today's reminders
  • tell me about today's calendar
  • tell me about my commute
  • tell me if my iphone battery is low
  • turn off bedroom light atfter 60 minutes (custom)

Hi ITSLULULEMON,

Thanks for the info you've shared. Have you already tried to delete the routine that you have created before and create a new one with the same actions? Let's go ahead and try that to see if this would make any changes on its behavior.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you still need assistance. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I have remove the command from my routine. The previous suggestions did not work and I am just verbally stopping my alarm and then starting my routine. Thank you for following up.

Hi ITSLULULEMON,

Thanks for trying the steps. Could you please provide the cast firmware version of your Google Nest speaker?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

Hello, I have rebooted my devices and my wifi multiple times. It doesn’t happen everytime but every so often as my routine launches I will hear “ok weekly alarm cancelled’ and then I have to reschedule my weekly alarm.
