Routines with delays do not announce anything anymore

For about the last month, if not more, actions with delays do not announce any information. For example if they need to say the weather, or time, or any phrase - they will silently fail and I will get a notification saying actions may need a speaker assigned to them (or will tell me the output in that notification - often incorrect, for example the weather in Mountain View which isn't where I am), but the kicker is that I get the same outcome when a speaker or display is assigned to them. This started about a month ago, I send in feedback via the Home app and it was fixed in a few days, only for it to revert back to this behavior, where it has stayed a buggy mess for the last month.

The workaround of "use household routines" isn't exactly feasible, as those don't support delayed actions.

Also perhaps related, if any of these actions within a delay include playing a YouTube Music playlist it will not select the right playlist if there is a speaker assigned to the delay, but will usually work when there is no speaker assigned to the delay.

Hello @RomanOnARiver,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand the frustration caused by inconsistent, delayed actions and incorrect information being provided. I also appreciate the feedback you sent before. Thank you so much for your effort. To effectively troubleshoot this issue, please provide the following information:

  • Please specify the exact models of your Nest devices (e.g., Nest Hub, Nest Audio).
  • Are you using Wi-Fi or Ethernet for your Nest devices?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your network setup or other devices in your home (power outages, updated internet speed, etc.)?
  • Did you already check the devices connected, schedules, and routines?

In the meantime, you can try the following steps:

  1. Check for updates: Ensure your Nest devices and Google Home app are running the latest software versions.
  2. Restart Devices: Power cycle your Nest devices and the device you're using to control them.

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge
