Setting non-Nest Speakers (Klipsch) as Default?

Hello!

I have a lovely pair of Klipsch R-41M active speakers, which my Google Home network can see. But it will not let me use them as default speakers or connect to them via Home at all. Any thoughts before I throw up my hands and go out and buy two Nest Audio speakers like an idiot?

Hey MattyOLantern,

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear that you're having issues setting up your Klipsch R-41M devices as your default speakers. To confirm, is it a cast-enabled device or is there a Chromecast device connected? Also, below are the lists of compatible devices that you can set as a default speaker on the Google Home app:

  • Chromecast Audio
  • Cast audio groups
  • Chromecast built-in audio devices
  • Chromecast (1st gen), Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra
  • Android TV
  • Chromecast built-in TV
  • Google Home speakers and displays

Visit this link to learn more about this feature.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
