How is it that you still can’t silence the assistant when asking for lights out? The last thing you want when putting the kids to bed is the ever loud “ok turning off five lights, sorry 15 lights aren’t available right now”.
we’re not silly.. if the light turns off, it worked.

Hi Jesset83,
If lights have been added to the same room as the speaker or display you are commanding then the assistant will change them without a verbal response.
Have a look at the Google Nest help center link below for more information about adding devices to rooms.

Thanks Cathal, it defeats the purpose of having rooms if you can’t separate them. I set all front of house apart from the back and my office etc and it defeats the purpose if you have to walk to another section to turn off the lights.
With the price of google nests these days, it’s time to fix it, as it has been requested by consumers for years. If the competition can listen, why can’t google.

Hi again,
I understand your frustrations as I have many features that I'd like Google to add and sometimes it seems that they are not listening.
They have recently announced a whole bunch of new additions coming soon if you check out the blog posts from the front page of this site.
As this is a community forum supported by other users and community specialist's the best way of getting your thoughts, feedback or feature requests to the people that can make changes is by submitting feedback as detailed within the link below.

Hi everyone,
@Cathal_S and @xanonxspiderx thanks for the help.
@Jesset83 Thanks for bringing this up and I’m sorry you have that experience. Let’s get this resolved.
A few things: How many lights are there in your home structure? Do you have lights that you are not using anymore and still linked in your Google Home app? Which Nest speaker are you using when you received this message? If you have multiple Nest speakers, is it happening to all speakers too?
Keep me posted.
Best,
Juni

Rooms/devices can be separated and devices can be turned off from any portion of the house.
If you are in room A and tell assistant/mini to turn off lights in room b, only lights in room b (that are assigned the room b within Google home) will turn off. If you are in the garage about to leave and you tell assistant to turn off lights in room A and b, it will turn off lights in both rooms. Example: Hey Google; lights off in kitchen and Tony's room. Also, it only announces from the device from which the command was made. If you tuck in your child and then return to your room and use your phone to command the lights off, the response will be played over your phone.
As far as volume, there is (at least in androids Google home app) the ability to reduce the volume and brightness of lights on mini between specific hours. As well as a do not disturb mode. Open Google Home app, click on the nest mini that you need to change, then notifications & wellbeing. (I don't know if iOS is similar or not)
