"When does the sun set in May?" - searching for this in a search engine gives the answer, yet Google Home can't understand, or gives me a football result?!

every time they release an update for the newer models, the older models get worse. i think it is because they attempt to apply the updates to models that are not meant to receive it and it ends in an error. for mine, i can no longer get a simple answer to a simple question.

"what's the weather? you're answer should be in this chart"(what happened to it's 55 and raining?)

"what is the date for election day? election day 2025 in march 5." (what happened to this year?)

I thought your device just sent the recording to Google servers and they worked out the answer, so I can't see why it matters what device you have.  Hence asking it a question with no internet makes it cry.

i think some of the updates they process have more to do with how they process information rather than what the info is. and some of it doesnt apply to the older models. compare a tricycle to a 20 speed mountain bike, some things just arent applicable but the system pushes it to try then gets bogged down.

a big issue i have is asking easy questions to my mini and not getting expected results. "you're answer is in this chart"

using a mini (formerly, the dot)has no screen and  requires a verbal answer from google while using a a hub(having a screen) can technically get an answer from a visual.

I have a phone and a screenless-speaker (doesn't have a name, I think it's just "Google Home Speaker 1st gen", annoying it has no name to use when discussing it.  If I ask the same question of each, the speaker speaks and the phone gives visuals, I never get the problem you're having.  Your model must have been put in the "has screen" list on the server for some reason.

What happens to me is it not understanding the question, both devices equally.  "When does the sun set in May?" is a very simple question, not sure why it thought I wanted football results.
