Sirius XM Not playing on any Google Device

My Google devices will not stream Sirius XM at all.  When I ask “Hey Google, play 80s on 8 from Sirius XM” it comes back and tells me my trial subscription has ended or that channel is not included in my package.  Neither of those cases are correct.  There is nothing wrong with my subscription.  It plays on Alexa devices just fine.  I have reset the device, unlinked and re-linked Sirius in Google Home.  Nothing works.

Hi @Maplehillsser,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Google Nest devices won't stream Sirius XM. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • What type of Nest Mini do you have?
  • Are you using a Serious XM app?
  • Have you encountered this situation with other streaming media?

In the meantime, let's check this tip:

  • Unlink and relink: Unlink and then relink your radio service. You can find instructions in this article: Link and unlink your radio services.
  • SiriusXM Subscription: Ensure your SiriusXM subscription is active and includes the channel you're trying to play.
  • Check for Updates: Make sure the Google Home app and your phone are up-to-date.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Hello Melany,

Thank you for reaching out regarding this issue.  First of all let me tell you what steps I have already taken.

Unlinked and re-linked the sirius radio feature MANY MANY times.

Totally factory re-set both my Google devices

Removed and re-installed the Google home app on my iPad

Removed and re-installed the Sirius XM App on my iPad

Called Sirius XM and confirmed (just in case) that my subscription is active.

Now, to answer your questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?  It has been going on for about a month now.
  • What type of Nest Mini do you have? I have two google devices a Google Nest HUB 2nd Generation running Firmware 20.20240530.3.236 and Cast Firmware 3.74.419799.  And a Google Nest Mini running firmware 429109 and Cast Firmware 3.73.429109.
  • Are you using a Serious XM app? Yes - The latest version.
  • Have you encountered this situation with other streaming media? No, Apple Music, YouTube Music and iHeart Radio play just fine.

Should also mention two things that I noticed which may help you

  1. When I link my Sirius XM account in the Google Home app after I enter the account information and click LINK the blue circle will spin and then turn RED for a split second.  It will NOT bring up the term and conditions screen.
  2. When I say "Hey Google, Open Sirius XM" it will try to open the APP but then say "Something Went Wrong, Please try again later".

Hello @Maplehillsser

Thanks for your response and the additional information.

Let's try something else to isolate the issue:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device. If correct, tap "X" to close the account window. To switch accounts, tap the drop down icon , then tap another account or Add another account
  5. Tap "X" to close the account window.
  6. Tap Settings.
  7. Under "Services," tap Radio.
  8. Tap the radio service you want to connect. Tap Unlink to disconnect it.
If your radio service isn't listed, make sure you've downloaded the app and signed in.

Let me know how this goes and we will find a resolution together.

Thanks in advance,

Catheryn.
