SiriusXM Stopped Streaming

ddfed
Community Member

Yesterday my SiriusXM quit streaming to all my speakers. Speakers acknowledges Google commands (eg: streaming 60s Gold from SiriusXM) then nothing. I have done ALL of the usual work arounds. Anyone else have this issue? Could not find any recent reports on this. My speakers are all Home and Nest minis.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear that you're having issues listening to SiriusXM on your Google Home/Nest speakers and displays. We've been seeing quite an increase in reports about this issue, and the team would love your help to look into this further.

In order for the team to explore further, we need to gather additional feedback from affected customers. You can send feedback from your devices by saying,"Hey Google, send feedback." followed by the keywords: GHT3 SiriusXM Stop Streaming. Visit this link for more steps.

I got an unexpected telephone call from SiriusXM Monday after a terrible call with them the prior Thursday. Thursday, they refused to take responsibility for the problem. Monday, they laid their cards on the table and said they have dozens of SiriusXM channels that stop playing after the first song is played, not advancing to the next song, since Google started their global update in late May. SiriusXM also said they have no estimation of when the problem will be fixed. They provided a credit to my subscription account, begrudgingly, last Thursday. Monday, they offered me a huge credit to not cancel their service.

I told them if they cannot fix the problem since late May, then they have the wrong people working on the problem. Their tone changed radically from last Thursday of huge arrogance to Monday of massive humbleness.

Google looks bad here. They cannot provide a decent API to SiriusXM for streaming. Clearly, Google does not know which way it is going. SiriusXM cannot follow a confused leader called Google. Google hardware sales will plummet from dysfunctional existing hardware and streaming service providers who cannot deliver.

It is in Google's best interest to help SiriusXM resolve this problem so Google will not take the beating that is coming to them in the marketplace.

It's obviously fixed now. What was the issue?

Tech issue of the  Sirius end which after several phone calls it was corrected. Sirius customer service was  very nice about this and acted quickly and effectively

Late to the table but Sirius M still stops playing after one song on my Nest Hub.

Hi,

Both my Nest hub (foyer display downstairs) and mini speaker (upstairs bedroom) are working with SiriusXM again as of April 28 this morning.

I have possibly 2 secondary glitches:

1) I told the mini speaker (bedroom) to stop playing music and it did.  However, I could also hear the audio response downstairs on the nest hub to the effect "music stopping on master bedroom speaker".  This has never happened before.  The mini speaker and foyer display were linked as a group previously.  I checked to see if this was the cause of the problem; but no, as I checked the nest hub and it showed only foyer display and mini speaker was not checked off.  I tried again but could not duplicate the glitch but will see if it happens again.

2) I issued the play command on the google nest hub ("foyer display") and it played for awhile (approx. 5 minutes) and then Google said the music has stopped playing because music was playing on another device; but there wasn't.  Google said to reissue the play command.  It's been playing fine for the past 20 plus minutes with no further glitches.

Anybody else have other glitches since the issue was "magically" resolved?

FYI - final portion of Chat with Google agent April 26:

12:04:49 PM Juan: Thanks for the information. But since we have already tried all the recommended steps, and knowing that other music services are working , I'd recommend you to get further assistance with the SirusXM support team. Again my apologies for all the inconvenience, I wish I could do more.

I chatted with SiriusXM on April 26 and as of April 28 have not heard from them.

Thanks.

I am unable to stream SiriusXM, Apple Music, or NPR by saying  "Ok Google play ________" on my Bose Smart Speaker 500 or Bose Portable Smart Speaker. Google Assistant responds that it is playing my selection, but nothing starts. When I tell the assistant to stop the stream it replies that "Nothing is playing"

Accounts are linked, I have unlinked and relinked, removed from Google Home and re-added. I am able to stream directly from the Bose App to the devices.

This is happing again. I can't stream to my speakers. It cuts out after a few seconds. I tried going on the  SiriusXM app and it still cuts out. But if I play on my phone it works fine. Google fix it. this is ridiculous.  Should I go get Alexa.

Hi,

The problem has returned. Now, can play Sirius XM The Sleep Channel, but stream stops after song is played. The stream does not advance to the next song. It is happening for all devices for the past few days.

Please resolve. Thanks.

It's a Sirius problem (no pun intended) so it's best you contact Sirius customer service and let them know what happening to you and hopefully they will correct it right away. They could be working on a fix as we speak, considering they are aware of past similar problems.

OK, thanks.

Our testing team is always on hand to help you find the best quality. As a consequence, we provide a wide selection of best steam generator iron from reputable manufacturers like Tefal, Panasonic, Rowenta, Singer, Black Decker, and Philips to help you choose the one that will perform the best for your needs.

I have been in touch with Serius regarding this issue and they elevated the problem to their tech dept. Sirius just called me back and informed me that the problem has been resolved and corrected. After asking them what the problem was they claimed it was a technical glitch (programming?) and after learning about it they were able to make the fix. Specific reason why, your guess is as good as mine.

April 26/23: My Home Nest Hub and mini-speaker were working fine yesterday.  I would say "Play SiriusXM channel 53" and Google would reply "streaming 'Chill' on SiriusXM".  Now the display would show the channel is playing but there is no audio.  Same issue with mini-speaker, no audio.
I deleted and reloaded the Home app as well as uninking and linking the SiriusXM account.

I can cast from my laptop and iPhone to the Nest display and mini speaker.  Other media appears to be working eg. YouTube.  Other commands also work.
I contacted Google tech support and the tech did a remote troubleshoot; still not working.  The firmware appears to be up to date.  Also rebooted the mini-speaker with no success.

The tech told me to contact SiriusXM which I did.

SiriusXM tech went through the same steps, delete and reload Google Home App.  The SiriusXM support team will phone me in the next few days to see if they can help.

Is the problem with Google or SiriusXM???

Note:  I was casting from my laptop to the nest home and commanded Google to stop music and it did.

Same issue here since yesterday with SiriusXM on Google Home.  I've also tried all of the listed "fixes" ... unlink/link, reboot speakers, reboot iPhone, resent SiriusXM signal, etc. etc..  The worst part is that Google does not seem to have any humans working for them or someone who you can actually have a conversation with.  Difficult when online tech support limits the type of questions and answers.  Does Google customer or tech support actually monitor these customer concerns ... or are we on our own and just have to wait it out?  Some type of response from Google would be nice.

All is good now (1210 PDT).  I guess someone at Google is listening.  Thank you, Muddi!

SiriusXM is not playing on any of my Google devices.  My morning wake up routine failed (which has been happening more often than not, after working great for over two years).

My hub and home app show media "playing", but no audio or song information is displayed.

Why has this service integration getting worse over time instead of better?  Are they really trying to push YouTube Music?

Two days ago my mini no longer plays from Sirius Radio. I give the request and the mini responds that it is playing the requested station on Sirius XM, but nothing happens. There is no music. I requested a radio station that I have listened to before and the  mini responds that it is playing thru Odyssey, but there is nothing happening. I can get Red River Radio out of Shreveport. Tune In seems to work on two other stations I listen to. I live in Garland, TX.

streaming SiriusXM by voice command no longer works on Google nest hub. I tried unlinking and relinking service, doesn't work. The only way I can play on nest hub now is thru selecting the device on the app on my phone.  Assistant says it will play, but it doesn't.  Anyone know what's going on?

I'm having the same issue.

When I say hey google play no shoes radio in sirius xm

it brings up the Sirius XM page and ssys it is streaming no shoes radio, but it doesn't.

It plays pandora and spotify songs on request.

It is linked in google home.

I can open Sirius on phone and cast it to the nest. I did restart the nest and everything is updated

I saw a similar post from feb 2023, but it did not appear resolved

I'll go ahead and raise my hand for same issue.. it will acknowledge and agree to play the Sirius XM station, but all you end up getting is dead air no sound no nothing. It will play Spotify just fine. I can cast to my Google device using the phone Sirius XM app not a problem.

My speakers recently developed this issue. I sent feedback from one speaker. Should I send it from all devices experiencing the problem or is one sufficient?
