Sorry, something's not right (Nest Hub Gen 2)

G-rig
Community Member

Hi all,

I'm getting this message fairly often, the Hub Gen 2 is turning out to be more annoying than it is helpful.

It anwers when there are closer devices around, says 'something's not right' just for asking a question, voice activating smart plugs (which still execute correctly) etc.

Pretty useless, any fixes?  Have rebooted a few times, forgotten device etc.

Cheers,

Hi G-rig,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? How often does this happen in a day? Is the issue happening on all commands?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

If the issue persists, you can revert your Nest Hub 2nd Gen to its default settings by doing a factory reset and setting it back up. Here’s how:

  1. On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds.
  2. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Hi, thanks for following up. I tried a few of those things in the past (however a router and phone reset isn't necessary). I did just do a factory reset using the volume Buttons and it seems to have improved the device, so will test it out a bit more).

Thanks

Hey G-rig,

I appreciate the update! I'll go ahead and keep this thread open for three more days so you can observe your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). Kindly reply to this thread if you encounter the same issue.

Kind regards,
Lovely

Ok, no worries.

Ps. I've never had such issues with the nest mini and nest audio speakers. The hub is a pain and the wrong device replies half the time. No real purpose for the device besides the mic for voice commands.

Yes who knows.. could have be an issue with the 'works with google' home devices.  Sometimes says 'ok turning 3 outlets on..', sometimes does it and doesn't say anything.. just inconsistencies.

Hi G-rig,

Thanks for responding. Let's go ahead and reboot your router simply by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes. After that, can you try this command: "OK Google, sync my devices".

Let me know how it goes.

Not sure. Could have been something to do with third party devices and connect smart home. Works well enough I guess now.

Hey G-rig,

Thanks for the info. Could you make sure that the home address on your device is updated?

Change the home address of your devices

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. At the top, make sure your home name is listed. If needed, tap the name to change the selected home.
  3. Tap Settings and then Home information and then Home address.
  4. Tap Edit and then Enter your address and then Next.
  5. Drag the map so the pin is on your home, then tap Done.

Note: When you change the home address, it only affects the devices in the home you selected. You can edit or delete this address anytime.

Keep us posted.

Dunno it's just the nature of it.

Hello G-rig,

Chiming in, what language is set on your Nest Hub (2nd gen)? If you have an Android device, please check if there are available updates for the Google app and Calendar. If so, please update the apps then try syncing all your devices.

Keep us posted.

Hi Muddi,

The language is set correctly en-au (yes Hub Gen 2).

I toggled a few photo frame settings on/off and rebooted and the temperature is being displayed again.  I'd say it was something to do with enabling the experimental setting (weather frog) although turned if off straight away so who knows.

Not displaying the tempurature -  nevermind, maybe just pass it on to the support team, way more time than it's worth all this. Thanks

Hi G-rig,

My apologies. If you still have the same issues with your device, we can continue troubleshooting. To further isolate the issue, could you try updating the language to EN_US? Once done, reboot your device and check if your device will have the same behavior.

Cheers,

Muddi
