Sound disappears Google Home & Nest Speakers when playing Spotify

Hi - I have tried everything multiple times! Reboot speakers, clear cache for Home and Spotify. Reset Wifi - nothing works. Delete Home and Spotify apps and reinstall. Link - unlink Spotify! Nothing works!  All of a sudden my Google Home and Nest speakers just cut out / stutter when casting Spotify. The apps on my phone show the songs are still playing, but no sound comes out of the speakers. The first song usually plays, and then the sound just stutters / stop / start / buffer. I'm casting from YouTube music and am not experiencing the problem. Is it time to cancel my Spotify subscription? I have spent days searching to try fix the problem - this is incredibly annoying!

A few questions: is it happening only when casting? Does “Hey Google, play [music on Spotify] works fine? How about casting Spotify music from a different phone/device?

it happens if casting from my phone or if I ask "hey Google, Play Spotify", either way it happens. I have not tried casting from a different phone. I don't have another phone. It also does not happen on Youtube music or on BBC Sounds. It seems specific to Spotify.

Understood.  What Nest speaker do you own? A factory reset will reset your Google Nest or Home speaker or display to its default factory settings. Try it and relink Spotify then observe if this will make a difference.
