Speaker Group Issue

Delenn
Community Member

Hi I have 5 speakers/music system 4 using audio cast and one is Google enabled.

All are named individually and then also in the following groups

Home = All sysrems across a Three floored house

upstairs Stereo = Two systems One floor

Downstairs Stereo = Three Speakers across Two floors

all were working great either individually or in groups.

i can now only play requesting each individual speaker

If I request a radio station to a group Nest tells me it is playing but nothing comes out.

if I ask for radio to an individual speaker it plays, I could then ask for another speaker and it will play but slightly out of sync.

if I use my music app and cast to any of my grouped speakers it plays ok.

tried recreating a group under a new name but still had the same issue.

GoogleMimi, Android Phone and Ipad

any suggestions?

Hello Delenn,

Thank you so much for posting in this community. I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing trouble playing a radio station through your speaker group. I understand how frustrating the situation can be. I’ll be more than pleased to help.

I appreciate your time and effort in performing the troubleshooting steps described in the post. I'd like to ask you a few questions to gather more information about the issue and find the best way to fix it.

  • When did the issue first occur?
  • Can you check if the Google Home app is up to date?
  • What model of Google Speakers do you have? To identify the models, consult this article: Google Nest and Home device specifications.
  • What are the firmware versions of your Google devices? To find this information, refer to this article: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes
  • Do you experience this situation with a certain radio station?
  • Did you include non-Google speakers in the group?
  • What Wi-Fi frequency band are the devices connected to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

I'll be looking forward to hearing back.

Regards,

Daniel

Hey Delenn,

Thanks for keeping me updated. So let’s try to implement additional steps:

  • Rename the speaker group and make sure it is different from the others.
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap on the speaker group to change the name.
    3. Tap on the gear icon at the top-right corner to open the Device settings page for the speaker.
    4. Tap on the Name option.
    5. Customize your speaker's name and tap SAVE to continue.
  • Double-check that the radio services are correctly connected to the Google Home app. To review the steps, refer to this article: Link your radio services
  • Finally, request the radio service that you want, being specific with this request, mentioning the radio station and speakers’ names.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel

I have already tried this creating a new group with a different name but still using the same speakers, it made no difference.

as mentioned previously I can request any radio station to any individually named speaker and it works fine just the groups having trouble with.
