Speaker Group stopped working with Routines

eLee0429

I have my routines set up so that when I say Good Morning, it will tell me the weather and the news. I’ve set it ip previously so that it would play on all speakers so that as I’m getting ready and going from room to room I am able to hear. However couple of months ago it just stopped playing on all speakers and will only play on the speaker that I’m in the room for when saying good morning. Why the sudden change and is there anyway to make it play on all speakers again?

Hi eLee0429,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.
  4. Make sure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Once done, have a go at this by manually running a route using the Google Home app.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Automations.
  3. Tap Play next to the name of the Routine.

Home & Away Routines and the workday Routine do not support the manual start functionality from the Google Home app. If you don’t see the Play to run your custom Routine, check that the Routine is activated and that you have the latest version of the Google Home app.

For more information about routines, see this guide. Also, you can try creating your own personal routine for us to isolate further. We also suggest you edit, delete or recreate a new speaker group. The steps are on this link.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hello eLee0429,

Apologies for the delayed response!

Try these steps:

  1. Open your Google Home app.
  2. Go to routines.
  3. Either create a new routine or go to your active routine and try the action "create your own".
  4. Set the command to play music/radio on "name of speaker group"

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Dan
