Play something on another device - Not working

Bitz09

In my "good night" routine I had a custom command "Play Ocean Sounds on Display X"  This worked fine for over a year and 1-2 weeks ago it stopped working.  I now get a message saying "Sorry it looks like the stream is currently unavailable for DisplayX".  (or something like that).

In the Routine, I can add "Ocean Sounds" to play on the device that starts the Routine...but I really want it to play on another device.

Any idea?

Hi  Bitz09,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Were there any recent changes made?

To start with, It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, check each routine, change and edit them. If possible, remove the specific routine and recreate one. See this link for more information.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

The routine worked perfectly for months.... All of a sudden it stopped working. If I tell the device to play the sound (Ocean Sounds), it works fine. If I ask another device to play Ocean Sounds on any other device I get the message... Sorry, it looks like the Stream is not available on "Device Name"

The functionality has changed...it is not one device, it is all of them.

I tried rebooting, recreating, etc...nothing makes a difference.

Hey there,

Apologies for the late response. I’m checking back to see if you’re still having the same concern. What country are you in? What Nest devices are affected by the said command? Can you try a different command instead? Try to broadcast a command and see if the message is the same. Try these commands when broadcasting and when adding them to your routine:

  • Relaxing sounds
  • Nature sounds
  • Water sounds
  • Running water sounds

Also, create a different routine, and this time around, do not include the action of playing music on a different device. Just create an action to play music and let me know how it goes.

Kind regards,

Dan
