I have 2 Nest audio's and a Nest Max in a speaker group. As of yesterday I was able to play music on a speaker group just fine. This morning when I tell the Nest Max to play on the same specific group, it picks a random speaker in the group and only plays on that one. Sometimes its the same speaker, sometimes it's a different one in the group. I have also tried giving the verbal command from different speakers, casting from my phone to the group....everything possible. No dice.
I have rebooted and rejoined every device, factory reset them, deleted and created the group, rebooted our router, removed them from our home, everything I can think of, wasted a hour and a half this morning. Each speaker is seeing the Wi-Fi fine.
The only thing that's changed is, we are using a Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 in the house. They both took the updates from Google yesterday. I'm hard pressed to believe that this caused it, but it is the only thing that changed.

Same happened to me, worked fine yesterday and today only one of my 5 speakers showed as an available casting option. Factory reset both of my Nests (you can only plug one in at a time to have this work well), and recreated a group but it only plays on the last speaker you casted to..never the pair. Behavior like this is sadly common since I've owned these speakers.

Well.... it looks like something broke. Hey Google.... you broke something, again!
Interesting find, The nest audios are playing fine in the group if I cast from Spotify, but the Nest Max is not. I checked the Firmware on the Nest Max that's not working in group, it's on :
System Firmware 280498
Cast Firmware 1.56.280498
and says it's waiting for the next public firmware update,
I have a Nest Max in the Basement, and just for fun I tried joining it to the group, and it works. It's on
System Firmware 276689
Cast Firmware 1.56.276689
and of course there's no way, that I can find, to force them to all the same firmware or in this case, roll them back. Also worth noting, I am not enrolled in the preview program.
Any thoughts?

Possibly related to this??

I thought about that...they are all Google devices, and I was not able to control as a group yesterday. If Google is being honest and those are the only issues, then your or my problem do not fit.
Probably unrelated, but this morning my Gmail won't sync subscribed folders, keeps getting a error, even after creating a new profile.
I'm starting to wonder if there's something going on in the back round today.

Adding a little more context, my speakers are showing in the Home app but only show a "Play Music" option after clicking on them and letting them "connect". They still won't show as castable options in YouTube Music app, nor do the pairs work at all today. So, completely unable to listen to playlists/radios through YTM application. I wouldn't dare try connecting via bluetooth as that has NEVER worked since I've owned these Nests.
My third party lights in the house all still work just fine. I guess I need to start investing in off-brand speakers now if I want them to work all the time.

More troubleshooting this morning.......I was able to recreate your issue with the Youtube music. Even more weirdness, I created a new speaker group, says created successfully , then there are no speaker groups in the home app. Create another group called the same thing, then there are 2 groups named the same. So it looks like your theory that the Sonos downgrade has broken more than what Google either knows about or is sharing.

Yeah, and the volume control while casting you used to be able to do that with the phone just sitting next to you and locked. NOW, you have to unlock the phone and bring the music app into the foreground in order for casting volume to be adjusted. If connected via bluetooth though, it works as expected. But, highly recommend not trying to connect bluetooth with Nest pairs...it doesn't work.
It's just all sorts of broken...

Hey there,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh. I would recommend trying to restart your devices, and readding them to a the group.
We hope you were able to get the help you need, but if the issue persists feel free to create a new thread, and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand.
Best regards,
Jake

My speaker groups stopped working too. My stereo pair also stopped working.
