Speaker making popping noises intermittently whilst playing ambient noise

At night we have a speaker in the bedroom playing ambient "ocean" sounds. This is great as it blocks put any external noises that might wake us up. However, the speaker ever now and then makes a loud popping noise. It's only started doing this recently, does anyone have any idea of the cause. It's doing it maybe once every 5 minutes.

Hello Alexjwood,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I understand that listening to your favorite ambient sounds on your Google Nest Mini can be quite relaxing. Let's work together to figure out the issue you're experiencing. To help with that, I have a few questions for you. When did the issue start? Does it occur only when playing music or even in idle mode? Also, is the problem specific to ocean sounds or does it happen with other ambient sounds as well?

Let's go ahead and try turning off the ultrasound sensing on your device and see if it will have the same behavior.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings > Recognition and sharing.
  5. Turn Ultrasound Sensing off.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi
