Spotify and Nest issues

mjdavis

hello!
I’ve had my Google Nest Mini (1 gen) for almost three years. Love it!
Right now it’s acting up with Spotify. I’ve unlinked, linked, unplugged, replugged, uninstalled, updated, cleared cache, checked wifi, checked email, it feels like a goose chase.

Spotify will only play for roughly 5 seconds through the speaker before the speaker stops regardless of casting from Spotify or voice command via nest. My phone (iOS) says the music continues to play past the initial 5 seconds but there’s no sound.

This has been going on for too long. I’m feeling disappointed and frustrated. Any and all help is deeply appreciated!

I am having the same issue! Anyone here who has resolved this?

So far the best way for me to listen is to link my Bluetooth and play from my phone. Not ideal but a temporary fix I hope.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing details about this issue here. I appreciate @mjdavis for sharing those steps.

I know it must be a  frustrating experience when you're having issues playing music on your Google Nest Mini. A few questions: when did the issue start? Do you have the same issue with other music services? How far is your Nest Mini from the router?

Please try these steps below:

  1. Move your Google Nest device within 15-20 ft. away from the router to get enough signal from your network.
  2. Reboot your Google Nest device and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.

Let me know if that works.

Cheers,

Muddi

I am having issues with casting my Spotify account to my Google Home devices and this happened over Thanksgiving so very frustrating. This has been a continuing frustration so I am wondering why I don't switch.

Hello krlaube,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out. What Nest speaker do you use with your Spotify? Is it also happening on other music services? How far is your speaker from your router?

Try to refresh everything by doing a sequential reboot starting with your router followed by your Nest speaker. Restarting your phone might also help. Also, I suggest you try the voice command if Spotify plays and tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

This sounds crazy, but I unplugged my Nest for about 2 weeks and after plugging it back in I’ve had zero issues. Maybe it just needed a break? It listens to all my commands and plays with Spotify perfectly!
I don’t know about other music platforms but so far so good.
