Terrible Speaker pair slowness

singlaashutosh1

I have bought a pair of nest audio speakers. When I play audio over cast or Bluetooth to one speaker there is not much delay .But when I play them over speaker pair there 1-2 sec delay with respect to video. I have seen several such posts of this issues . This is ruining the whole experience.request immediate assistance or return of product.

Hi there,

Please have a look at the Google Nest help center link below.

Correct audio delay:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6318642

It's common for audio to have delay especially when using the Bluetooth protocol. Google Nest speakers do not currently support splitting the audio from a video steam and casting to other devices.

When I setup the speakers seperately I can sync the delay to -150ms, then there is no delay between chromecast and nest audio. When I pair them to stereo speaker set I can not adjust the delay. Using the group delay does not work in this situation.

Hi again,

Although the speakers are grouped you should still be able to select the individual speakers and add the same delay.

Cathal

Hi Cathal, speaker group and speaker stereo pair two very different things. Speaker group is collection of two mono speakers . Google claims efficient stereo pair capability in its product description which is in accurate. There is no way to manage delay if you are in speaker pair mode.

Do you by any chance know how can raise an actual product defect ticket with Google.

Appreciate your efforts on this.

No not visible separate only as a pair (stereo).

Yes you are correct, have you tried un-pairing them and adjusting the delay?

yes when I unpair them the delay is working as separate speakers. But when you pair them in stereo the delay is back, Also I got from support a email that it is not supported that chromecast plays only audio and not video playback. That is why youtube bluetooth crashes.

I haven't tested this on my own Nest audio's myself, sorry.

This is a community forum and I am just another normal user. I know that splitting the audio from a video steam over the 'cast protocol' isn't a feature that is currently available and I haven't tried a Bluetooth connection myself because I know that it's more or less guaranteed to create lag.

I have seen some articles recently that seem to suggest that Google might be working on adding this feature to the Chromecast with Google TV and Nest audio speakers in the future.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

@Cathal_S, thanks for assisting others.

Delays are very common especially when connecting to Bluetooth. Speaker delays vary between different models.

The following are typical numbers for specific categories:

  • Speakers: 0-40 ms - typically no delay
  • Soundbars: 0-80 ms - inherent delays are common
  • Receivers: 0-70 ms - inherent delays are common

Note: The above numbers provide some common values. Some models' delays may be outside of the typical range.

Hope this info answers your question.

Best,

Princess

Hey folks,

It's been some time since this thread was updated. Does anyone here need assistance?

Hi everyone just for more calrity . Delay is more than 1000 ms . Which ruins the whole experience. Audio lags by 1000ms from video. Does anyone know how to lodge a complain or return request. This appears to be false advertising...

I think it is a missed opportunity for full functionality. The bluetooth delay is caused by missed codec aptx. I did buy transmitter for it but because the google nest audio misses that codec nothing works.

I did send back the speakers

Hey singlaashutosh1,

Please note that we do not recommend using the Google Home/Nest devices as an external speaker for streaming videos. It is best if you use the speakers to play audio only on a speaker group together with other compatible speakers and Chromecast devices.

@Tecko71: Sorry to hear that. Should you decide to give the Google Home/Nest speakers and displays another try in the future, we'd be more than happy to help improve your experience.

Cheers,

Muddi
