Google home mini has suddenly starts saying "the mic is off" and a second later saying "the mic is back on". I have checked the toggle switch for debris. It is clear. I also did a reset and tried turning it on & off quickly (which became a temporary fix but, eventually the mic turns itself off again) Still does it. This particular mini sits on an upper shelf in my living room and isn't handled at all. I'm unsure why it has randomly started to do this.
My Home Mini is still not able to accept voice commands - the 4 orange dots constantly display across the top regardless of the microphone switch position.
Why would this happen suddenly when the device hasn't moved from the spot I had placed it in? No bumps, no drops - just one day decided to quit on me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your kind assistance. I believe that I have a seriously defective microphone on my Google Home Mini.
This is the 2nd time I've conducted a Factory Reset. The 1st time was when I was on the phone with a Google Home representative who guided me through the process and the mic turning itself off issues didn't stop. At your request, I tried a Factory Reset 1 more time but that didn't fix this issue either.
Is there anything else you can help me with concerning this defective microphone?
I'm very disappointed that I can not use my Google Home Mini anymore...Please help me.

Since we have exhausted the troubleshooting steps for your issue, the next best step is to replace it. Could you tell us when and where you purchased your Home Mini?

I got my Google Home Mini directly from Google somewhere around July 2021. It's a Google Home Mini, not a Nest Mini.
Replacing my unit sounds like a wonderful idea!
