The same Google Nest Hub v2, all same software versions yet showing different screen styles

Hi,

I'm breaking my head about this. I bought three Google Nest Hub 2's more or less at the same time. They are all running the exact same software versions, and are all running on the same Google account. However, it occured to me that one of the three is showing a more modernish style for the settings sliders for volume and brightness. I've searched all my settings and Googled for this extensively but can't figure out why there are these differences. I would want to make all of them look and appear the same modern style.

Anyone who can tell me where this is set? I have gone through all my Google Home settings for each of my Hubs but all settings are the same, if I'm not mistaken. I have not found any setting that would influence the appearance of the sliders.

Any hints welcome!

Greetings from IJsselstein (NL)
Hans

Hi hansijsselstein,

Thanks for bringing this up.

It's weird that both devices have the same firmware version but different interface. Have you already tried performing a complete reset to the one's with the old interface? If not, let's go ahead and try that to see if resetting would make any changes.

Best,

Princess

Hi Princess,

Many thanks for your response and I apologize for my slow response on that, due to work I was not able to login in the meantime.
In the meantime, I found out that that one Hub2 that was showing the "modern" interface, was connected to my Google Account, but I could not access the photo-frame settings from Google Home, it was telling me the account got disonnected. I could not reconnect it the way was offered, so I ended up removing that Hub2 from my Google Home and factory-reset the device with the 10s volume up+down. After again registering it in my Google Home app, that was working fine again, and to my surprise, now this Hub2 was showing the same "oldfashioned" UI as the other two.

It remains a mistery to me how the UI could look different on the same devices and my ultimate wish would be to have the three of them all show that modern UI that I had only on one of the three before I reset it... I can't seem to get the modern UI anymore on any of them now.

Thanks again for your kind help.

Hi. I'm sorry for my english. I had two different interfaces when I set the English (UK) language on one device, and English (US) on the other device. I'm from Poland and I don't have support for my homeland :(. Regards.

Hey GenoGoaFreak,

To confirm, do they have the same interface if you set the same language on both devices? Also, could you tell us the specific Nest Hub device that you have?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi GenoGoaFreak,

Thanks for the info. Have you tried assigning the same language on both devices?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi. Yes, now I have the same language set and the interface is the same on both devices

Hi Muddi/GenoGoaFreak:

With which language did you get the "modern" UI (see my photos)?
I would just want to test this, to see if changing my primary language will change the UI.

I'm seriously wondering why the language setting also changes the UI!

Ideally, I would want the modern UI on all my three Hubs, running Dutch (Netherlands).

Kind regards, Hans

Hi, the modern style was for English (UK) and the old fashioned style was for English (USA).

Hi all,

Just a FYI: When I had different UI's on my devices, all of them were setup with the same Google Account and using Dutch (Netherlands) for the Assistant. I had no other language installed.

Kind Regards, Hans

Hey hansijsselstein,

Sorry for the delays. To confirm, are you using a personal or business account?

@GenoGoaFreak: I'm glad to know that your Nest displays are on the same interface now. Hopefully, no other issues will arise while we monitor it.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi, the biggest problem is the lack of support for the Polish language. Why can there be a Polish assistant in the phone and in the chromecast and not in Nest Hub? Sad but :)...

Hi Muddi,

I only have a personal Google account so I have used a personal Google account with my Hubs.

Kind Regards,
Hans

Hi GenoGoaFreak,

How did you manage to setup the language different on your two devices? I use all my three on the same Google Account and thus same Assistant Settings which is the same for all the three.
Does it mean you used each of yours with different Google Accounts?

Thanks a lot.
Hans

Hi,
I played around, reset to factory settings and I don't remember if it was on the same account. During one day of configuration (one factory reset and language change from UK to US) I saw two different interfaces on one and the same nest hub 2 (after factory reset and language change).
