Thread Boarder Router not showing up

NoPnuts4me

Hello All,

I have been having the hardest time Connecting my Nano Leaf A19 Bulbs to my Google Nest Hub Max. There doesn't appear to be a thread border router, but the Nest Hub Max is a thread border router and It is supported by Nano Leaf. I have factory reset my Nest Hub Max and everything was working according to the Google chat session that I took part in. Is there a way to force a Thread Border Router to be established?

Here's my specs for systems so that this might provide some extra info so I can get help.

WIFI, ubiquity UDM pro, USW 24 POE, 3 U7 pros, Comcast router

I have 2 networks running. One is 2.4/5/6 multicast is checked, multicast and broadcast control is checked

The other one which I am trying to run this off of is isolated to 2.4

the Comcast is for other things that don't play nicely with ubiquity (ovens, cooktop and such).

I have updated all the firmware on the Nanoleaf bulbs and can connect them to them via Bluetooth so they aren't stuck on default.

Let me know if I can provide any additional information. Thanks!

Hi NoPnuts4me,

Thanks for posting in the Community! Sorry to hear that you’re having a hard time connecting your  Nano Leaf A19 Bulbs with the  Google Nest Hub Max. Thanks for the troubleshooting you already tried. No worries, help is here! Let’s try some troubleshooting steps that might help you:

  1. Ensure the bulbs are connected to the same WiFi network.
  2. Power cycle the bulbs.
  3. Ensure Google Home app is up to date.
  4. Force close the Google Home app.
  5. Reboot the router.
  6. Factory reset your bulb.
  7. Reboot the Google Nest Hub Max.
  8. Factory reset your Google Nest Hub Max.

Let me know how it works.

Regards,
Axel.

1. They aren't wifi bulbs they are thread border bulbs.

2. Done multiple times

3. Reinstalled app

4. Done multiple times

5. Done that, it shouldn't make a difference as thread border isn't over wifi.

6. Done that, tried connecting at base firmware and updated firmware

7. Done that 10-12 times

8. Done that 5 times, and had Google confirm the device is functioning properly. Which it isn't.

My Google Nest Hub Max is not creating a Thread network to connect to. Are there ways to force that network creation outside of me diving into the developer app?

Hi NoPnuts4me,

Thanks for your reply. I understand that troubleshooting the bulb connection is important to you. Unfortunately, there isn't a manual way to create or force a thread network connection outside the Google Home app.

I encourage you to share your feedback about this limitation. Your input will help us consider future updates. Additionally, you might want to reach out to Nanoleaf directly to see if they have any other suggestions for connecting your bulbs to the Google Nest Hub Max.

Regards,
Axel.

So there's info on how to push the thread provisioning through Google Play services out there. But you have to go into the development app for Google. So there is a way to request that the provisions be pushed through the developer app. I'm just asking that you all do that instead of me having to jump through the hoops of the debug bridge.
