Unable to cast audio from any app other than YouTube Music

I updated my Google Pixel to the January 2023 security update and now none of my audio apps connect to any of my speakers via cast. This may or may not be related to the security update but that's the only thing that has changed on my device recently.

For example neither Podcast Republic nor SoundCloud can now stream audio to any of my Google speakers. I press the cast icon and select a speaker but it stays in the connecting state. 😔 YouTube Music seems to connect fine to the speaker but that isn't where I want to play my playlist from.

I'm really not sure why this has to break so regularly. I've had issues consistently off and on for months now with regards to casting via this Pixel. Every time Google updates something it breaks.

Well after a lot of searching and pulling my hair out it turned out that I needed to reboot all of my cast speakers 😞. Of course! Despite being available in the app to select I need to manually reboot all of them. Makes perfect sense 😬.
