Unable to share Nest Hub Max to others in household

I am using the Google Home App and cannot invite additional household users. 

method - open app\settings\General-Household\+invite person\clicked persons name with yahoo account email\hit next through the multiple share options\ send invite

output- “can’t send invite right now”

i just tried clicking the same persons alternative gmail account and it will send invite. So is this sharing restricted to gmail users?

Yes it needs to be a Google account.
