I have my Nest account linked to Spotify, so I can ask Google Assistant to play music. I also have Sonos speakers in the same room, and so I have e the Nest device set to play music through those speakers by default. It all worked perfectly but has recently stopped working. If I set the default playback speaker to the Nest Hub itself, then Spotify works, so the issue appears to between the Nest decide and Sonos.
Any ideas for how I can fix it?
EDIT: I've discovered that this issue only affects Nest Hub 2 devices; my Nest Mini still works perfectly. The Nest Hub 2 can tell me what's playing, but can't control it.

I have the same issue

@wateroc Thanks for your reply. Does the issue only affect Nest Hubs for you, with Nest Mini working OK?

Hi there,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Hub Max can tell you what's playing, but isn't actually playing any music. I'm happy to help!
To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:
Keep me posted.

Yes exactly, just nest hub

Any ideas how we can report this to Google to get it fixed?

@Rusell, many thanks for your reply. Please see answers to your questions below.
Does this happen with all music apps, or only Spotify?
No music app works from the Nest Hub, but all work fine from Nest Mini. I've tried Spotify, BBC Sounds, and TuneIn.
Have you recently changed any Wi-Fi settings or made any other network-related changes?
No, everything is as it always has been.
Have you experienced any power outages?
No, but in any case, I've rebooted everything manually.
What troubleshooting steps have you already taken?
Rebooting the Sonos and Google devices, disconnecting Sonos from Google and reconnecting. All the speakers work fine from Nest Mini, but don't work from Nest Hub. Note from other responses in this thread that this behaviour is evident for other users too, so it's not peculiar to my setup.
Is the music app and Google home app up to date?
Of course.
Is Spotify up to date?
Of course, although this is irrelevant because I'm not using the app - I'm trying to control the Sonos speakers from Google Nest Mini, so the app is not involved.

Hi GC_Wood,
Thank you for the update. I appreciated all the information you shared. For now, I recommend that you do a factory reset on your Nest Hub Max. These are the steps that you have to follow:

Thanks, @Rusell.
I've reset the device and added it back into my Google Home but the issue remains.
Both of my Nest Hubs are unable to control Spotify on Sonos, but the Nest Mini remains able to do so.
Can we now please investigate this to your senior technical teams for investigation? It's a software issue and not peculiar to my devices.

I have the same issue with my nest hub. I can control Sonos via home assistant on my phone, but if I try to “hey google, play sportifs on x sonos device” to my best hub it won’t play. However, once a track is playing, I can say “play next” or “increase volume on c Sonos” or “stop music” and it works! This is really frustrating to not be able to start a playlist/song via hey google command. And the worst part is that it used to work in the past! As this issue being fix? What is the work around??

Hi Rusell,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I’ve tried everything you mentioned. Reset to factory settings as well. Also, I noticed that once a playlist is playing on Sonos; I can physically go into Nest hub->room and select the Sonos speaker and control Sonos (pause/stop and play as well) and everything works. yet if I say to my Nest hub, play something, it won’t. 😞

And just to be clear, Nest hub answers “okay, playing x on Spotify in x room” … yet nothing happens. My point is, it seems the command is clearly received and interpreted, yet nothing happens
