Using LG TV via LG Thinq connected to Google Assistant

Have an LG TV that I am able to control from LG Thinq app.  I have linked the LG Thinq app to Google Assistant.  Google Home and Assistant cannot control the TV and shows the error "something went wrong" when I try to turn the TV off, on, or use any other functions from within Google Home App.
