Last week after years without issues, my voice control to play spotify to my speaker groups stopped working. I was able to isolate this specifically to using “ok google, play music” variations from a nest voice device like my nest mini or nest hub. The devices would say “ok playing music on <group>” but nothing would happen. Choosing manually in the app or even voice in the app worked fine, and voice command to the nest devices worked if playing to the devices directly instead of the speaker group it was in. Unlinking my Spotify and relinking didn’t work either.
After trying a different default music provider which worked fine I was able to fix my issue by setting my music choice to “no default”. I now have voice commands controlling my speaker groups again. Hopefully it lasts.

Hello stonith,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
We're glad to know that you were able to fix the issue. However, it's still not working the way it should because playing music requires you to have a default provider so you can easily play the music on your preferred music services. I suggest that you try to do a sequential reboot to refresh all the settings on your devices.
Below are the steps:
Hope this helps.
