Voice recognition is not turning off on nest display

I've been using nest hub since it launched. At some point, I tested out the voice recognition feature and then I turned off the service since I use it primarily at home for some kid's songs, so that any other family member can turn on some tunes using my Youtube Music premium account. 1 month or so the voice recognition started working again without it being actually on in the settings. On the other hand, my google home mini did not have any issues and it is working as expected isolating it to the Nest Hub device.

Already tried resetting the device and settings.

Is anyone else having theissue?

Hi Davron,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: were there any recent changes made? which Nest speakers are we working with? Is it a Nest Hub or Nest Hbu 2nd Gen with Sleep Sensing? When you did the reset, was it the same steps as what you see in this link?

Thank you for confirming that this is isolated with your Nest display. You can try the steps below to see it will change things:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home > Settings > Google Assistant > Voice Match > Other devices.
  3. Uncheck the box next to the device you want to turn off Voice Match for > follow the steps.

For more information about Voice Match, see this guide.

Best,

Dan

Hi, Muddi,

My device is Nest Hbu 2nd Gen, and I have performed a reset as per the link with guidance. No changes that I can put a finger on it besides that now nest hub is on my work desk and I have turned on the voice match once on this device and turned it off when found out that it is not what I need since nest hub is controlled not only by me.

The problem actually became worse, after a reset and making sure it does not have the voice match turned on, sometimes it even does not recognize my voice and plays ads on me when I have Youtube Premium subscription.

I'm 99% sure it is the device issue as I state earlier my Google Home Mini works flawlessly even if you turn on or turn off the voice match or even if I'm like really far away.

Hey Davron,

Sorry for the delays. To confirm, how many accounts are linked on the Google Home app? Also, what is the firmware version of your Nest Hub (2nd gen)? Follow the steps below to know-how:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings > Device information > Technical information > Firmware version.

Cheers,

Muddi
