Yesterday morning the alarm clock failed to operate after a power cut over night.
Photo display failed to display the photo album of my choice so this morning I tried to reset the device via the app with no joy. Re downloaded the app and forced the device to hard reset using the volume buttons.
Carried out the setup procedure but it fails at eh google assistant page and gives me this code .......... 83902
Tried it using another Gmail account and it fails at the same place.
This was upstairs in the bedroom. Moved it downstairs next to the Wi-Fi router for a better signal. Again no joy.
Is this device scrap or is there a way around this ?

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing when setting up your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen. Let’s further look into it. A few questions: do you have other Google Nest devices aside from this? Are you using a regular Gmail account or a Google Workspace account? Do you have another phone (or tablet/iPad) to use just for the initial setup? If yes, try to use it and see how it goes.

I tried to set the device up on an older iPhone and also tried to set it up using a alternate email address. Every time I tried, it seemed the setup was going great but at the end, I just end up with a non responsive device with a white screen. With this device 2 1/2 years old, I came to the conclusion that the device was beyond repair and ordered a replacement off Amazon.
This evening, before I powered up this latest device, I logged onto google via my PC and deleted it from my signed in devices before powering up the new device and followed the instructions to the letter. First with the original address which updated the new device with the same results and also with the alternate address with the same result. In my opinion, both the original device AND the new device have been corrupted by the latest software update.
Can you confirm ?
