What use are groups when nothing can cast to them?

What use are groups of I can't cast to them? They don't show up in the apps like youtube music, there's no option to cast from the home app to groups. Yes I am using the right SSID. Yes they are recently set up from factory reset.

Why even have groups at this point?

I searched the forums here and as usual I find dozens of threads with the same issue that were ignored by google until they got arbitrarily locked. I see no answers, only masses of frustrated users.

Is this something that is being worked on or can we just group speakers for no good reason?

This is a relatively new problem that was introduced about 1-2 months ago. For me, it has to to with the bitrate of the media that is cast. If it is too high, it locks up the speaker group.

I know the feeling when you're having issues casting music to your Google Home/Nest device. Let's get to the bottom of this. A few questions: from what app are you trying to cast? Are you able to cast music on individual speakers? Are you able to play music via voice command to your speaker group? How far are you from the speakers while casting?
