Why my routine does not send a text message when it is set as part of the routine action?

When is set one of the actions on a routine to send a text message to my phone number, I do not get any message. Does it require any settings to change? I have reviewed several questions on the board and Google search in general, but have not been able to find precisely what needs to change. Either the version has changed since the response were posted or I am not looking at the right places to make the change.

Hi @Deoveer, Nest devices using assistant cannot send text messages. Your phone's assistant has that ability but it's not possible the other way around.

I had setup the routine on my phone. 
this does not make sense. If the feature in not available, why Google would provide it as one of the options.

The option is there when using it from the phone but it doesn't work with the speaker, probably for the same reason Nest device can't do incoming phone calls -- it has no phone number and probably can't route it to your phone should it come in. So I'd guess if the Nest sent it and it was replied to and it couldn't route it back, it would be problematic.

You're not the first to wonder these things. If you'd like to request the feature send feedback by saying feedback to your speaker device. Some have used IFTTT -- how that works I don't know, but there's no support for it here if there's a mishap with it.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge of this product. When you say "using it from the phone", do you mean seting up the routines through the phone? If that is your itension than I should mention that all the routines have been setup on my iPhone 10. 

If I am using iPhone, do I need to use ISTTT (or something like that) on a different app?

No that's not what I meant -- what you want to do is not possible -- having a speaker device send a text message to your phone or to anyone else, it seems to be a deliberate limitation. If you need a daily message or reminder for something, why not just set up a reminder on your phone -- it doesn't need to be a routine.

Tell the speaker "Hey G, remind me to brush my teeth every day at 7am." A reminder will be fired on your speaker and your phone every day at 7am, your speaker will have a single light that shows for about 10 minutes. You can ask the speaker what your notification is or view it on the phone.

I am not explaining properly so I apologize. Here is what I am trying to achive. 

When I run a routine, e.g. turn on front yard light at a specific time, one of the actions I want routine to perform is to send a text message to my phone number. 

I have provided my phone number with an area code (1). The number format is ############66. 

I am not asking a speaker to send a text message. Although the audio device for the announcement for this routine is a speaker.
