Nest mini

I have a nest mini and have changed my Internet provider. I'm trying to connect it with the WiFi but the message keeps appearing saying it cannot communicate with the nest mini. I'm doing all the steps the Google Home asks but can't make any progress.

Hi Laura, what steps are you doing exactly? All you really needed to do was go to the device in the Home app, click the gear in the upper right, choose device info in the next screen and then choose WiFi. Click "Forget Network" and the Home app will force you to connect a device that it is aware of but not connected.

Thank you, I fixed it by changing the nest back to factory settings. It found the new WiFi easily after that.

Hey, Laura1.

Thanks for letting us know what cleared up the issue for you. It's always helpful to see what works out. I just wanted to check in real fast to see if you have everything all worked out of if you needed anything else here. If you still need any support, just let me know.

Thanks.

Yes, factory reset will do it, but now that you know there's a "forget network" option you'll be able to switch providers without doing the fresh setup from scratch each time that can be tedious if you have many devices.
