Wrong device still answering

duglop
Community Member

So this has been an ongoing issue for almost 2 years now. The wrong device continues to reply or perform said/asked functions even tho I have my settings set according to each location. Google also acknowledged this as an ongoing known problem! However, Google also started sending follow-ups asking if the right device has been replying - to which I continue to say NO! This started after an update in 2021. I have filled out so many forms, and troubleshooted every aspect of this to no avail - I have complained about this for over a year and NO SOLUTION YET!

This never used to happen and suddenly it happens almost every single time. My mini speaker continues to try to answer for my Nest Hub. Most of the time it says - there was a glitch/problem please try again - but I didn't even ask that device anything. This SAME device continues to play a routine that is no longer in my routines - I discontinued it long ago and can no longer find it in my list - at 10 am EVERY day she announces it's 10 am. I CAN'T SHUT THAT OFF CUZ I CAN NO LONGER FIND IT! Also, the past few days when asking Google Nest a question,. she completely gets the question wrong with a reply totally different than said question and/or topic!

THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL NOW!DO SOMETHING AND FIX THINGS FOR A CHANGE AND STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ETC!!! EVERY UPDATE MAKES THINGS WORSE!

Hi duglop,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you, let me help you out. You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speakers/ displays for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal. If that did not work try adjusting the Hey Google sensitivity setting. Check the steps below on how to get there.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the bottom, tap Home Home.
  3. Touch and hold your speaker or Smart Display.
  4. At the top right, tap Device settings Settings and then Audio and then “Hey Google” sensitivity.
  5. Choose how sensitive you want Google Assistant to be when it responds to you.
    • To change this setting on another device, tap Adjust more devices.

Check this link for more information.

For the Routines feature issue. Try to check each routine and find the starter for 10 am and delete it if you found it. Check the steps below on how to delete a starter.

  1. On your phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. On the Home screen, tap Routines .
  3. Select the Routine you want to edit.
  4. Edit your Routine:
    • To edit a starter or an action: Tap it.
    • Tap remove at the bottom.
  5. At the bottom right, tap Save.

Here is a link for Routines for reference.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Juni
