YouTube not blocked

Trying2Tech
Community Member

I have a nest hub and YouTube is supposed to be blocked however my kids found that if they ask google to play a sound (ex. "whats an F-150 sound like") it will go to YouTube for it; despite YouTube being blocked.  They begin browsing videos via the "suggested videos" beneath the requested sound video.  I checked the settings and YouTube is still restricted on my Google Home App so something is not working as intended.  I will unhook the device until you implement an improvement stopping them from watching YouTube endlessly.

Hey Trying2Tech,

Sorry for the late reply and to hear about the trouble with your kids still accessing YouTube. I would be more than happy to assist you, and ensure you have the app blocked. If they are using assistant to access the app, I would recommend following this article. It has more details on how to set parental controls for the assistant. Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake

Hi Trying2Tech,

Thanks for responding.

Have you tried to perform a complete reset your Google speakers? Let's go ahead and try that to see if that will work.

Hi Trying2Tech,

Chiming in to check if you still need help with this? Hope the previous post answered your question, otherwise I’ll be locking the thread.

Best,

Princess

No it doesn't fix it.  Checked all settings and they can still access YouTube by doing what I described in my OP.

It's obviously a loophole in your systems logic and if you're not going to fix it I'll just return the device.

They ask it to play a sound and even though I have parental settings on and YouTube blocked it still uses YouTube to play the sound.  Checked settings again and again.  It's faulty logic in your device.  It shouldn't be able to go to YouTube at all.

Filled out form just now.  Checked device yesterday and it still occurs when asked to play that sound.
