YouTube on Nest Mini

I can cast audio from YouTube to my Nest Mini in Chrome browser tab on desktop perfectly fine. Why I can't do the same from YouTube app on my phone? It seems to be ridiculous limitation.

Thanks for posting.

While casting from the YouTube app to your Google Nest Mini isn't supported, you can cast your audio using your Google Home app. However, it's only available on Android devices. Check this guide for more information.

I really need to cast audio from YouTube app to Nest Mini. Everything else does not justify for me buying the product.

While you can cast YouTube to Chromecast and Google Nest displays, casting only the audio to your Nest Mini isn't supported. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.

When I look at the Nest Mini official product page, I see YouTube is supported. And now you say it never was, which is really confusing.

 

I should mention, that I know YouTube can be played through Bluetooth. But the connection is very unstable, sometimes it drops off and never connects back, until restarting Nest Mini.

I have YouTube Premium and often listen to it as a podcast in the background with screen turned off. It was the main reason for me to buy Nest Mini in the first place.

Sorry for the confusion. You can listen to music from YouTube music using your Nest Mini and you can set it as your default music provider. However, for YouTube videos, you can only cast it if you have a Chromecast or TV with built-in Chromecast using your Nest Mini. If you have an Android phone, you can cast your audio using the Google Home app.

I guess, the main question is why casting to Nest Mini available from Chrome and not from YouTube app. Is it so difficult to implement the same API? I really hope it will be done in near future. You can close the thread.
