Hey there ak,

I'm so sorry to hear about the issues you're having, I'm sure it's frustrating but I'm happy to help.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? What other troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

I have the same issue:

  • I entered a phone number for “your own number” and successfully tested calls from Google Home show this number as the caller ID. Now I need change the number but the Edit button is no longer provided.

I updated the Google Home app to latest version and the phone number still can not be edited.

Hey there,

I know how challenging it is when you can't change some settings on your Google Home device, but I'm happy to help.

A few questions: Which country you are located in? Have you tried to use a different phone/tablet to check if you have the same issue? Could you also share some troubleshooting steps that you've tried?

I look forward to your response.

Thank you Garret for your reply and offer to help. I am in Canada. I am able to make calls using my Google Home speaker and the calls show the caller number I have entered on Call Providers as described earlier. The issue is the Edit button used to first assign the phone number no longer appears and the bullet selection only offers this one number. Even the earlier option “Appear Unlisted”  is no longer offered as a bullet selection.

I need to edit the phone number because this number was only used for testing, and is not the desired number I wish to be displayed for my calls.

I have tried deleting the Google Home App and reinstalling it on two different iPads and also tried it on an iPhone. In each case, after installation I login to Google Home with my Google Account, and my household name with all its devices appear. And so does the same Call Provider phone number and the Edit button for this number is still not displayed.

So the phone number must be saved as data with my Google Account. If I can’t get the edit button to appear in Google Home > Settings > Communications > Call Providers, then maybe you can suggest where to edit this data within the Google Account settings.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Patrick

Here is what I did to solve the problem. Temporarily use someones android phone and add your google home app information into it, and then add your phone number. The android version of the google home app works great. The number should then show on your iphone app. If you number does not show, try deleting and reinstalling the app on your iPhone. After you are done, delete your account from the android phone.

Thank you Don!

That fixed it. I even used an Android emulator on my PC from BlueStacks.com and installed Google Home on it without needing to find someone with an Android smartphone.

The bottom line: Google Home for Android edits this setting properly while Google Home for IOS has a bug on the Call Providers settings page. Please fix this Google so your IOS customers don’t need to do this crazy workaround,

Thanks again Don. This is an example of how awesome community forums are!
