I have been using smart devices from Geeni for a few years now with no issues. As of yesterday, when I ask my assistant (google mini, nest hub, and pixel 6 pro) to turn on or off any of my lights, it says it doesn't understand, yet when my wife asks, it does it like normal. Why is this happening just when I give the command?

I have been having the same issues

My google devices also started playing up yesterday. Numerous home hubs and speakers and smart devices networked, all had been working mostly ok with assistant for FIVE years until now. In most cases I get "sorry I don't understand" or display goes into a search. Can't voice control Philips Hue lights or TP Link Kaza plugs. I've also noticed when I have a device on, it won't recognise "Turn off light x" but instead "Put off light x". The hype of AI is clearly a lie - speech recognition on my 25 year old IBM software was better than this. Come on Google sort this out.

Other observations: It sometimes works on some things if I remove "the" from the command or use "my" instead of "the" (in these scenarious Philips Hue devices work, but still not some Kaza plugs).
If it doesn't work it sometimes gives command suggestions "other things you can try" that mostly do not work.
Devices that do not work can still be controlled via their associated icons within Google Home.
Curiously not the first time these problems occured: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Suddenly-stopped-recognising-commands-f...

Update: Seems to be back to normal... (as in about 50% chance of getting anything right first time).

Hello everyone,
Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out.
@Rugalus and @Hotketchup, if you're the ones who setup the smart devices, please remove your home members from the Home structure for a bit. Retrain your voice match and check if you can control the smart lights before adding your home members back to manage the devices.
@AdrianAugustus, I want to check if you are still having issues with this. Let me know so I can further assist.
Cheers,
Lovely
