I had the same issue, and someone suggested to me to try static IP mapping, using the devices MAC address (not personally sure how to do this and haven't been able to sort my own so far)

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about your experience on connecting your Google Home Mini to your network. Let's go ahead and sort this out by answering some of these questions:

  • Is it your first time setting up your Google Home Mini using your WiFi network?
  • If no, are there any changes made on your router before this happened?
  • Are there any other Google Home/Nest speakers connected on the same network?

Let's go ahead and try to check these settings and perform a reset as soon as all settings are met.

  • Check that your Google Home device is receiving power from a wall outlet. If your Google Home is receiving power, you will see a blinking white light on the back of the device.
  • Make sure that your Google Home device, wireless router, and device used to set up the Google Home (e.g. phone or tablet) are in close physical proximity to one another -- within 15 feet, if possible.
  • Please note: Networks that require you to connect through an authentication page (also called a "captive portal") are not supported by Google Home. This is typical of hotels, schools, dorms and businesses.

Let us know how it goes by responding to this thread.

Best,

Princess

  • Yes, we haven't used the wif-fi network before as it's a new router and name (upgraded to fiber broadband). There's no other google home/nest devices.
  • There's no authentication page, and all items were within 15 feet. It still won't connect. I've been advised to try IP mapping but have no idea how to do this. The google nest was plugged in and power on.

tHANK YOU.

i HAVE 2 GOOGLE HOME MINI AND 1 GOOGLE SCREEN AND THEY WERE ALL WORKING BUT WE LOST POWER AND DIDNT USE MIINIS FOR FEW DAYS AND WHEN i WENT TO USE NOTHING SO i RESET ABOUT 6 TIMES NOW AND ITSAYS CONNECTED BUT NO INTERNET THIS IS THROUGH MOBILE, GOOGLE HOME SCREEN STILL WORKS

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for responding.

@MyChemicalSeal -- I appreciate the details you shared as well as the steps you tried. Here are some settings that we need to consider:

  • Enable: Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), multicast, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
  • Disable: AP/client isolation, virtual private networks (VPNs), proxy servers, IGMP Proxy. VPNs and proxy servers should be disabled on your computer as well (if applicable).

Here's some additional information to keep in mind:

  1. If you're having trouble connecting to a 5GHz connection on a router that is running DD-WRT firmware, please change the wireless mode setting to "mixed" and then try setting your Google Home again.
  2. Hidden networks: If your network is hidden (i.e. does not broadcast its name/SSID), you'll need to manually input the network name and password. To do this, go to the network selection drop-down list, select "Other," and manually input the name and password.
  3. MAC address filtering: If your router has MAC address filtering enabled, you'll need to add the MAC address of your Google Home to the list of filtered devices. You can find the MAC address listed at the bottom of the Google Home app during setup.
  4. Security: Google Home supports WEP, WPA, and WPA2 wireless security protocols. These protocols prevent uninvited guests from connecting to your wireless network, and encrypt your private data as it is being transmitted over the airwaves.

@bluey19 -- Sorry to hear about what you're experiencing with your Google Home Minis. Could you please provide the error message that you're getting while attempting to connect it to your network?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best,

Princess

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to check if the steps I provided worked on your end.

Just in case you still have questions, you can always respond to this thread and I'd be happy to answer it for you.

Hi Princess,

I'm not very technical in the least and have absolutely no idea where to start with any of the tips or steps you provided. If you can give me any hints as to how to change any of these settings, I'm sure they'll be helpful but as it is, I'm just very confused!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your advice in the first place though!

Andi 🙂

Hi MyChemicalSeal,

Thanks for responding.

These settings are only accessible to your router's settings. By any chance that you don't know how to access these settings, you can always contact your internet service provider so they can guide you with it step by step.

Keep us posted.

Princess
